Hi I'm Jordan.

I'm a California boy, born and raised. I play the ukulele. I ride fixed gear bikes. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm from a smaller city outside of Sacramento, CA, right in between the mountains and the beach, each about 2 hours away. So naturally, I come from a family that's big into snowboarding and surfing. We're a very active family. In high school, my older brother and I were on the swimming and water polo teams for several years. Right now the main sport in our family is cycling. While my dad and one of my brothers are racing on their road bicycles, I tend to stick more to messing around on my fixed gear bicycle (for an example of what you can do on fixed gear bikes, watch the youtube video by M1CKFILMS titled "Genuine Leather HD F"). I also really enjoy playing soccer, football, all of those common sports, as well as most board sports, like longboarding and wakeboarding. Other than that, you'd probably find me hanging out with some buddies or watching a movie with my family - my best friends in the whole world. Pues también, yo hablo español. Bueno, si tú puedes leer este, lo siento pero no voy a traducir el párrafo anterior como probablemente pensaste. Si encontraste esta página, yo creo que tú entiendes inglés también. Entonces, no necesito traducirlo.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in this church, but that's only part of it. My parents taught us the standards and beliefs of the church and helped us to follow them. Ultimately we were taught to follow Christ's example and depend on Him in all things. As a result of this, I grew up with a knowledge of and a strong relationship with my Savior, Jesus Christ, and my Heavenly Father. When I was a teenager, I felt like this was the true church, but I didn't exactly know why. I didn't feel like I had any overwhelming spiritual experience telling me this, so I assumed I had obtained this feeling through the testimonies of others. However, this wasn't good enough for me. If I was going to be a member in this church, I wanted to know for myself if it were true. I determined that the only way to receive a true testimony of this church was from God. So I decided to take the challenge that is extended to all: read the Book of Mormon and ask God if it is true. After some time, I finally finished the Book of Mormon. I then knelt down and I asked to know if it were true. The answer came to me that I did, in fact, already know it was true. I had overlooked the many times the Spirit had confirmed that to me. Every time I read the Book of Mormon or heard the testimonies of others, the Spirit confirmed that what they were saying was true. I simply had not realized this, yet I knew it was true all along. In my heart I knew it, and in my head I did as well, I just needed to connect the two. And ever since then, my testimony of this church has continued to grow more and more everyday. I'm a Mormon because there is no doubt in my mind that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the same church that Christ established when He was living on this Earth. I'm a Mormon because I know that God loves His children today so He has called a living Prophet today to guide us further along the path that will lead us back to our Father in Heaven.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving as a "full-time" missionary in Iowa, which means I'm taking two years away from my home, family, and friends to share my beliefs with others and help them build their faith in Christ. I feel I am fulfilling my duty as a young man in this church by setting apart these two years of my life for something that means so much to me. As a missionary I have the incredible opportunity to share this wonderful gospel that has blessed my life so much with all the people of Iowa, specifically the spanish speaking people. Taking this opportunity to share our beliefs of the Savior and His church is probably the best decision I have made in my life so far. I get to meet and get to know so many people while helping them come closer to Christ. I have seen the joy and blessings that all this has brought to my life, so I feel it is my obligation and privilege to share it with others.

Are Mormons Christians?

Of course! In a very basic definition, a Christian is someone who believes in Jesus Christ and accepts Him as the Savior and Redeemer of the world. We, as members of the Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-day Saints, definitely believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God, our Savior. His name is in the name of our church, it's on the cover of the Book of Mormon: "Another Testament of Jesus Christ" and His teachings and his gospel are all throughout it as well. He is the foundation of everything we believe. There are endless references I could give from the Book of Mormon proving this, but rather, I'll just invite you to read it and see for yourself! I can guarantee no one can sincerely read the Book of Mormon and truly believe that we are not Christians. Try it for yourself. You'll see. Show more Show less
