Hi I'm Becca

I'm a Recreational Therapist and outdoor enthusiast! I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a Recreation Therapist and work in a Residential Treatment Center with teenagers dealing with depression, bipolar disorder, drug abuse and addiction, and other psychological issues. I love my job! I get to teach teens how to have a healthy leisure lifestyle which will help improve their family and other relationships and give them better options with how to cope with life's ups and downs. Plus I get to play at work! I love to hike, backpack, slackline, horseback ride, and pretty much do anything outdoors! I got to work at Philmont Scout Ranch in northern New Mexico as a Wrangler a couple years ago and took scouts horseback riding all summer!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have come to know for myself that this is the Lord's plan for our happiness in the life and in the life to come. I was raised in this church, by loving parents who read the scriptures with us kids, prayed with us, took us to church every Sunday, and lived Christ-like lives themselves. From a young age I could feel the love of my Savior and my Heavenly Father for me through my parents teaching me Christ's gospel. As I grew up I knew I had to learn for myself if this was the Lord's church. I read the Book of Mormon, I prayed and simply asked God if this was His church. I've received multiple confirmations through feelings that I know are God's answer to me that this is His church. I have seen it change my life as well as others. This gospel has brought me happiness and peace and given me perspective which allows me to have greater faith in Heavenly Father and His plan. I find guidance daily as I read from the Book of Mormon and the Bible. When I pray and listen quietly, I feel the guidance of my Father through the Holy Ghost, confirming that I'm on the right path or gently telling me it's time to go another direction or to make a change. I know that Heavenly Father is involved in our lives. I know that He loves us and wants us to be happy and to find joy in this life and in the next. I know He hears and answers prayers.

How I live my faith

I attend church with other young single adults who live in my city, two of whom are my roommates. We enjoy socializing with each other and helping to strengthen one another's faith through sharing our experiences. I served a full time mission for the Church in Texas and loved the opportunity to share with others my love for the Savior and His love for us.

What blessings can we receive through the gift of the Holy Ghost?

Through the Gift of the Holy Ghost we can have the constant companionship of the Spirit of the Lord. This means we can have peace through our trials and guidance as we make decisions. Show more Show less

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

Yes! This is one of the most comforting doctrines found in this church for me personally. God has given some of His authority, the Priesthood, to authorized servants on the earth who can seal families together- meaning that when a husband and wife are married on earth, it isn't just "till death do you part", but for time and all eternity. In LDS temples, couples and families, can go and be sealed by this holy priesthood. I have lost family members, and although it is hard to not see them and have them around, I know that I will see them again, and still be connected to them as my family, because of this truth. I am grateful to know that a loving God provided a way for us to remain with those people we love and have relationships with here on earth. Show more Show less
