Hi I'm Zachary Pineira

I absolutely LOVE life & living it to the fullest! From Southern California! Served in The Canada Toronto Mission! & Im a Mormon!

About Me

I grew up in California. Im 23 years old. I have studied Criminal Law and Psycology for a year and a half and have put it on hold for now because of one of the greatest decisions i have made in my life, to become a missionary. Right now im serving as a missionary in the Canada Toronto Mission. And it is absolutely wonderful. I love every opportunity of serving God. Im the only member in my family. My favorite things to do are to ride horses and go off into the mountains and just listen to nature, I love to play sports.( I play and have played hockey, baseball, soccer, and football. I loved every minute of each of them), I also love to dance.( I have been dancing now for about 9 years and started teaching Ballroom recently), I love to just laugh, smile, and have a good time ( life is full of wonderful moments that i wont let pass by), and I would say my favorite hobbie would be " Loving people". I heard that Gordon B. Hinkley was asked what his favorite hobbie was and " Loving People" was his answer. It is just a great feeling to do that!

Why I am a Mormon

I have been able to tell this story many times and everytime when I look back I can truely say that the Lord had his hands in my life preparing me every step of the way to receive his gospel. Since I was 8 I have been going to many different churches looking for one that satisfied something i was looking for. I'll be honest I really dont know what I was looking for. In August towards the end of the month, in 2009, I was ask by a very dear friend of mine to come with her to her church. The moment I walked into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints I felt a very profound feeling of the spirit and a love, that I knew was only from God, that touched my heart. I know now that I was looking to feel that very thing at that time. I met 2 missionarys and invited them over to my place to learn more about the church. They told me that there was another prophet that God called that is in our time today and that there was evidence to prove that. They then shared with me about the Book of Mormon and also told me that they didnt want me to believe them but that they wanted me to read and ask God to know if it was more of Gods words. I read all that they left me in 20 minutes and prayed that evening. The very next morning when I woke up I had a feeling burning in my chest that all I wanted to do that day was go to that same church. I knew then that the things the missionarys told me were true and that the church was Gods church here again on the earth. But then realized that I had to wait a full week to go again. I couldnt wait! I cant remember how many times I said that that day. 2 weeks later on September 5th I was baptized the same way Jesus Christ was, by one that had the authority of God. Since that wonderful moment i have notice how my life and how I have changed multiple times only through the grace and love of God and his son Jesus Christ. I am forever grateful to my loving friend that invited me to have these great blessings in my life. I love this gospel!

How I live my faith

Every day I am led to some kind of action that brings me to exercise my faith. "All true faith must be based upon correct knowledge or it cannot produce the desired results. Faith in Jesus Christ is the first principle of the gospel and is more than belief, since true faith always moves its possessor to some kind of physical and mental action" So I tell my self every day, "Do I have the faith to do the Lords will?" I always know the answer to that question because that is my biggest desire, to do the Lords will. One way I know to receive that faith is to continually be praying for that kind of faith and for the strength to do the Lords will. As I go through the day I thank God for that precious gift of faith and keep doing things throughout the day to nourish my faith. For example, I am always reading from the scriptures, praying, looking for opportunities to talk to people about what I know to be true, to step out of my comfort zones to help others that are not thinking someone may help them, and I always strive to be as obedient as I possibly can with all of the commandments. I love when I can feel my faith growing by doing these things. As a missionary you have to have an extreme amount of faith because you learn that you cant do the lords work all by yourself. You need His help! I have learned that as I have exercised my faith I have needed to be very diligent, patient, and longsuffering. As I have acted in faith it has led me to learn and apply other principles of the gospel and gain attributes that Jesus Christ has and gain a stronger testimony. I love applying my faith in everything I do. It helps me be strengthened and have trust in God. "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." ( proverbs 3:5-6) I know that when I used my faith and trust in the Lord I have seen many blessings and miracles. These gifts only come through the love that God has for us.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Zachary Pineira
No, We do not worship Joseph Smith. We have a testimony that he is a prophet of God just like the prophets of old; Moses, Abraham, Noah, and etc.. We worship only God the father and His son Jesus Christ! WE know through our prayers and from reading the scriptures , the fruits /god gave us to know if he is a prophet, that Joseph Smith was called ,like other men in the Bible, to be a prophet of God. To witness to us of the divinity of the living Christ and tell us the things we need to prepare for and hear from our Father in Heaven. AMOS 3:7 "Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets." God doesnt change. He always works the same, " Yesterday, today and forever". Again We dont worship Joseph smith or any other prophets since him. They are instruments in Gods hands to help us to come closer to our Heavenly Father who loves us so much. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

Zachary Pineira
Many times in my life before I was baptized I would ask this question to myself, " why am I here? and If I would die right now where would I go?" This was a hard thing for me that I struggled with for a long time. But I found my answers as I came closer to God and Jesus Christ. I found that we came to earth to recieve a body because before this life we just had spirits, or also known as our souls, and Our Heavenly Father wanted us to BECOME like Him. My purpose here in this life is to learn and grow and gain certain experiences to be more like God and Jesus Christ. "For behold, this life is the time for men to prepare to meet God; yea, behold the day of this life is the day for men to perform their labors." (Alma 34:32) Jesus christ even said in the bible, "Be ye therefore PERFECT even as your Father in Heaven is PERFECT..." I know that is our Purpose, to BECOME like Them, PERFECT. And we can! I dont think that Jesus Chirst would taunt us and tell us to do something that we couldn't reach. The way we BECOME like Them is through Christ and His atonement and obtaining every one of his attributes He has. Im no where near being perfect yet but I know that It is a life time pursuit and know is very much worth it to try our best. A purpose would mean nothing without our best effort. Show more Show less
