Hi I'm Rachel Marie

I was born and raised in Hawaii. I love life. I love adventure. I'm a convert. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in Hawaii. I love my life, I love my family, I love the beach, I love the mountains and I just love everything Hawaii has to offer. At 18, I ventured off to California to pursue a college degree and to seek new adventures. It was in college that my curiosity brought me to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. At 19, I was baptized! I have a bachelors in accounting, which will hopefully bring me to exciting places. I'm figuring out life one step at a time. I LOVE doing anything and everything that's good for the soul. The beach, sports, being outdoors and laughing with friends and family are just some of my favorites. I believe smiles are contagious, laughing is a MUST and eating is a phenomenal experience. All you can eat sushi is to die for! My family keeps me sane. Being a full time friend is the best. But being a Mormon has enhanced the quality of my life in so many ways. The gospel of Jesus Christ that we embrace as Mormons is why, despite life's bumps, I'm happy!

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I've seen the transformation the gospel has on people. I will never forget the light I saw in others who lived the gospel of Jesus Christ. These people were friendly, positive, fun, and they always looked so happy, even in times of trial. I wanted to know their secret! I soon learned that the light came directly from their hope in Jesus Christ. I didn't need anything more than the gospel of Jesus Christ to feel the same way. Although I already had a good, Catholic foundation on which my faith grew, I could feel that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints was teaching me something different and important. Learning about the gospel of Jesus Christ didn't take away from what I believed at all. Instead, it clarified some things that I already knew and broadened my understanding of God. I knew that what I was learning was true because of how clear the basic lessons of the gospel were and how different I felt about the things that were being taught. I knew I had to take a leap of faith and be baptized, even though I didn't know everything. The feeling that it was good was enough for me to test it out and it has changed my life immensely. It wasn't easy, but it was worth the leap!

How I live my faith

I live my faith by just moving my feet daily, even when I don't know where to move. It's all I can do to show that I truly trust the Lord. Through prayer and daily counseling with God, I try to yield to what he wants. I'm not perfect at listening, but I do my best. It's literally a daily learning process. But by trying to do His will, I know God can mold me. I strengthen my faith by going to church weekly and by participating in wholesome activities with other young adults my age. I study the scriptures and soak in spiritually fulfilling things, which to me are like little text messages from God. They never fail to inspire me!
