Hi I'm Niles

I grew up in the Bible Belt, I'm serving a mission in Russia, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Georgia and have lived there just about all my life. After I graduated high school, I moved to Utah to attend college. It's sort of a home away from home because my parents are from there and I have lots of family that still live there. I'm studying political science but I'm not entirely sure where I'm going with that. However, I'm currently serving a two year mission in Russia so college has been put on hold for now. I played the alto saxophone all throughout middle school and high school and once I return to America I'll pick that back up. I'm also proud to be an Eagle Scout.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Church, so it's what I've known about religion for a long time now. However, I don't ride off of the testimony of my parents. Through careful study of the scriptures and sincere prayer to God, I've come to know of the truthfulness of the gospel. It has taken a lot of time (most of my life) but now I have a firm testimony that this is the true church of Christ.

How I live my faith

I regularly attend my local congregation and have served there in many capacities, most recently as a Sunday School teacher. I also have daily scripture study with my family and generally work to apply gospel principles to my everyday life. Finally, I have been called to serve the people of Russia for two years teaching the gospel and sharing with them the blessings it has brought to me.

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Nothing can replace the Bible. There is a reason why it's the world's most printed book and that reason is that it testifies that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and our Savior and Redeemer. The teachings, doctrines, and testimonies the Bible contains serve as the bedrock of all Christendom. We believe that the Bible is the word of God and was written as revelation from him by prophets and apostles. The Book of Mormon is simply another testament of Christ, just like the Bible. It doesn't supersede or change the Bible but supports and agrees with it. Both books are Holy Scripture from our Heavenly Father. Show more Show less
