Hi I'm Whitney

I'm a Mormon

About Me

I grew up in Southern California, but am now married and have a baby girl, and we live in northern California. After graduating from college, I worked at a venture capital firm, and am now a stay-at-home mom. I love to be outside, cook, and do arts and crafts. I've been able to travel a decent amount and love learning about other parts of the world.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a family with a long heritage of Mormons, and as I got older I came to know for myself that it is what I want to be and that I truly believe in the teachings. I know that I am a daughter of our Heavenly Father and that He loves us so much. I know that He created a perfect plan for us in order to return home to Him. I know that our Savior, Jesus Christ, lived and died for us and that He now lives again and that we can receive strength, love, and guidance through Him. I know that I am watched over and loved and that if I keep the commandments and do what is right that I will be blessed.

How I live my faith

My faith is a daily work. On Sundays, I go to church where I get to participate in the teachings, as well as making all who come feel welcome. On a daily basis, I read from the scriptures, pray, and try to live in a way which is honorable and reflective of how Jesus Christ lived.

What are Mormon church services like? Are visitors allowed at church meetings? Can I attend church?

What is Mormonism? OR What do Mormons believe?

Whitney
We believe in God, our Heavenly Father, and that we are His children, and that He loves us. We believe that we have a brother, our Savior Jesus Christ, who was sent to this earth in order to live and die for us. We believe that he suffered for our sins so that we can repent, and that he died and was resurrected, making it possible for all of us to be. We believe in the Holy Ghost who is able to come and comfort us, teach us, and give us guidance and direction. We believe that we have been given commandments, or rules, which we need to abide by in order to have a happy life and to stay on the path which will lead us back to our Father in Heaven. We believe that there are prophets still on the earth who receive direction from God and what we should do and that they speak to us. We believe that the church which Jesus Christ set up while He was on the earth was eventually corrupted, and that the full truth was no longer in existence after a time. Because of this, Heavenly Father needed to give this earth the full Gospel again, which happened in the 1800s. Joseph Smith was chosen to be God's person who would do this work. Joseph Smith became a prophet and through God's help brought back Jesus Christ's church as it was intended. Show more Show less
