Hi I'm Sharon

I grew up a Kansas farmers' daughter. I am a widowed mother of 5. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a teacher by profession. I love reading, sports, movies and always enjoy spending time with my 5 children.

Why I am a Mormon

Before my husband David and I were married in 1981 he had gone through a conversion to Christiananity. He had grown up with no religious teaching but was always searching for some meaning in life. After a significant event where he started reading the Bible he knew that Christ was his Savior but didn't believe there was a church on the earth that had all that he was reading in the Bible. After we were married we started praying to know which Christian church to join. In October David was channel surfing and tuned in to the general conference of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. The then Apostle Ezra Taft Benson was talking about the prophet Joseph Smith and David was very intrigued by a modern day prophet. After getting a Book of Mormon from the college library and because of his "scientific mind" he began an experiment with the Word. He knew the spirit from reading and fasting about the Bible so as he began reading the Book of Mormon he felt that same spirit. He would then go to a random book and not feel that spirit. After going back and forth many times he gave me the Book of Mormon and asked me what I thought about it. I too felt this book could be true. We called the Church the following Sunday and after missionary discussions we were baptized. I had grown up in a very active Protestant home and I am so grateful to my parents for teaching me about Christ and I am eternally grateful to my husband for being a "truth seeker". David has now returned to his heavenly home and I look forward to when we will be reunited forever through the blessing of Temple marriage and eternal families.

How I live my faith

I pray and read my scriptures daily that I might walk closer to Christ and have his spirit with me at all times. I am serving as Ward Choir Pianist and Relief Society instructor in my Texas Ward. I am a teacher by profession and I try to live a Christ like life so I might be a good example to others.
