Hi I'm J.T.

I'm a hard worker, a guitarist, and a comedian. I love being a redneck. And I'm a Mormon

About Me

Well, I'm a southern boy through and through. Family is the most important thing in the world to me. My hobbies include cooking, eating, playing guitar, fishing, making people laugh, laughing, and hanging out with my friends and family. I take pride in what I accomplish with hard labor. I hope to one day be able to become an seminary teacher so I'm working hard to get the means so I can go to college and focus on getting an education. Like I said, I'm a family man. The thing I love most is being surrounded by those I love. Holidays like Christmas and Thanksgiving are my favorite because I can get together with my friends and family and enjoy a good meal and laugh my head off with those I love most. As far as traditions go, my favorites are Sunday afternoon family get togethers.

Why I am a Mormon

The story behind me becoming a member of this church has plenty of dips and bends. Its true what they say: The Lords hand is in the details. What it really all comes down to is that I wanted to know if the Book of Mormon is the word of God for myself. From my past studies of the Bible I knew that if I asked God that He would tell me the truth (James 1:5) and that I would know that it was right by the Holy Ghost and how He testifies to our hearts of truth (Galatians 5:22-23) So, instead of listening to the opinions of those around me, I decided to take it to the Lord in prayer. It was while I was upon my knees in sincere and earnest pleading with the Lord that I gained a testimony of the Book of Mormon as the word of the Lord and of Joseph Smith as a prophet of God. Because of that experience, I can testify with all of my heart and soul that I know that this church is true. How grateful I am to my Heavenly Father that He reached down in His infinite love to answer a simple prayer that led me down this path that I'm on. Ever since that day, I have resolved to always follow the Lord, to take His name upon me, to obey His commandments, and to be a witness of Him and His love at all times, and in all things, and in all places. I have been far from perfect in my resolution, but as I strive to keep Him as my number one priority day after day, His love and His grace have given me the strength i need to accomplish what i never thought i could and to become more like Him.

How I live my faith

I believe that a mans faith is lived best one day at a time. Living my faith is as simple as being honest, hard working, and friendly to those around me. Looking for ways that I can serve those around me not only helps me feel closer to the Savior but its a great way to make friendships that last a life time. Reaching out to others is my way of expressing the love that I have received from my Lord. His sacrifice and His teachings help me to understand how to be a better person and how to be closer to Him. I believe that the biggest compliment someone can pay someone else is them saying that they are closer to the Savior because of them knowing you. That is the fuel that drives my life

What is the Book of Mormon?

J.T.
The Book of Mormon is another witness and testimony that Jesus Christ is the redeemer and savior of man kind. It does not take place of the Bible but goes hand in hand with the Bible in proclaiming that all man kind can be saved through the Lord Jesus Christ. Like the Bible, the Book of Mormon is a channel through which all seekers of truth may receive divine guidance known as revelation. Indeed, the Book of Mormon stands as proof that God still speaks to His children and guides those who will listen to His voice. The truth of this magnificent book can be known to all who will read its message and ask God in the name of Jesus Christ if it is true. Those that follow this course will come to know by the power of the Holy Ghost that it is indeed the very word of God. (Moroni 10:4) (James 1:5) (Galatians 5:22-23) Show more Show less

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

J.T.
The Atonement of Jesus Christ is the sacrifice that Christ went through so that we could, not only be forgiven of our sins, but through its power be come better people. Christ was the one perfect person that has ever walked this earth. He made no mistakes and committed no sin. He walked in complete obedience to what Heavenly Father asked Him to do. Because He was the only man to ever walk blameless before the Father, He had no debt to pay because of sin. He could take upon Himself the sins of the world and pay that debt in full so that we could be forgiven of the debts that our sins incurred and walk back into the presence of Heaven Father, free of blemish or stain of the world. This sacrifice not only included our sins, but also our trials, sufferings, sorrows, challenges, and everything we will face. He took it all so that He could understand how to help each one of us through our individual struggles. He suffered for our sins and burdens in Gethsemane and died for us on Calvary. His sacrifice stands as the supreme act of love and obedience for Heavenly Father and all of Heavenly Fathers children. He suffered so that He could know my pain and help me in my times of sadness and distress. He suffered so that I could become clean again and enjoy peace of mind. He suffered that I might have hope. He suffered so that I wouldn't have to pay the debt of my sins and so that I can walk back into Heavenly Fathers presence with those that I love most. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe about the nature of God?

J.T.
Ive found that most people believe that God is some mystical being, some supreme sovereign power that rules over all things with a mighty hand. While most of this is true, what I have come to know about God is that He is much more than some distant being that cannot be known. He is literally my Father in Heaven. Heavenly Father is the term of address we use in our prayers and when we talk about him in our church meetings and in any other aspect of conversation. It is a term that we use to express love, respect, reverence, and closeness. Heavenly Father is perfect. He is all wise, all knowing, all powerful. He is the ruler of the universe. He is also kind, loving, and just. He has a body of flesh and bones just as we have. In fact, we were created in His image. But His body is immortal and perfect. It is a state that He wants us to achieve. That is why He has sent us here. He wants us to learn and to grow. He wants to guide us and help us through our trials and struggles. He wants to give us the direction and council we so desperately need. The scriptures say that His work and His glory are to bring to pass our immortality and our eternal life. Think of that! The God of heaven and earth not only works for our immortality, but our eternal life is what brings Him happiness! He loves us. Compared to Him, we are nothing. But to Him, we are everything. Everything that He has created is for our growth and development. Its all for us. Its all because He loves us. Show more Show less
