Hi I'm Kirt

I'm a father of five children. I speak Chinese. I've started my own business. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up on a dairy farm as the youngest of 11 children. So, having 5 chidren of my own doesn't seem like that much. I served a mormon mission to Taiwan where I became fluent in Mandarin Chinese. Later, I was able to use that language ability in my profession. I love to snow ski. This winter my 18 year old son and I were able to ski together several times. We had a great time. He is leaving this summer on an LDS mission to Brazil. I will miss him, but I know - as he knows - that he is doing the right thing. About five years ago, I took a 'leap of faith' and started my own business. It is doing fine and I love the freedom of working for myself to help provide for my family.

Why I am a Mormon

Ancestors from Norway, Sweden and England converted to the church there and immigrated to the United States. Thus, I was born into a mormon family. But as I read the Book of Mormon and studied, I came to know for myself, by the Power of the Holy Ghost, that the Book of Mormon is true. That Joseph Smith was a Latter-Day Prophet - just like God's Prophets of old. And that we have a Prophet of God on the earth today - to teach us what God and His Son, Jesus Christ want us to know - President Thomas S. Monson.

How I live my faith

To me, being a Mormon is about serving others - following Christ's example. My son and I visit am elderly couple on a regular basis. Last year, when the husband was in the hospital for a short time, we were able to visit and cheer him up. My son has done some yard work around their house. At Christmastime we took some youth there and sang carols. Recently, our entire family spent a morning at a local school - along with many other members - where we helped clear brush and debris and clear a Nature Trail. We love the feeling we get when we've done something to help someone else.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

No. We do not believe that Joseph Smith is Diety or some kind of God. We believe Joseph Smith was just a man who received and fulfilled a remarkable calling from God as a prophet - like Moses or Noah. Show more Show less
