Hi I'm Sharlin

I am a mom, a nursing student, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mom of 5 boys and a student nurse. I work on the cancer floor at a hospital and love caring for people. I enjoy participating in Cub Scouts and Scouts with my boys. I like to sew and cook simple meals. I like to read, but it takes me a long time to finish a book. I like studying child development books as well. I like playing some strategy games. I like a variety of music. I love our Heavenly Father above all and am so grateful He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, as our Savior and Redeemer. I love Jesus and I love being able to follow Him.

Why I am a Mormon

My grandma and grandpa have passed and it is because of my grandparent's conversion that I am a member. My dad's and mom's parents joined the church when they were around 12. So my parents were both converts who met at BYU. I have been a member all my life, but choose to be now because of the peace I feel. I have days where I am sad, lonely, depressed, or afraid yet I can still feel the peace of Jesus Christ's love flowing in my heart. I continue to go to church and be active so I can learn more or remember what I have learned about my faith in Jesus Christ. My mother has also passed away from a long, painful disease. My faith comforts me to know that I will see her again and that we are a forever family through the blessings of the gospel.

How I live my faith

The most important part of my faith to me is my relationship with my Heavenly Father. I pray daily to talk to Him and I pray about everything. I imagine Him as a loving Father in Heaven. I read scriptures with my husband and children regularly. I like to teach my children about Jesus and His gospel. Together we attend church for our Sabbath day worship. During the past two years of nursing school I made a choice to keep the Sabbath day holy by not studying on the Sabbath. This is my commitment to God, our Heavenly Father. Through my commitment I have been blessed with the ability to accomplish the demanding workload of nursing school and earn A's and B's. I will graduate soon with honors because of the grace of God and keeping the Sabbath day holy. I have many opportunities to pray with my patients on the cancer floor and through conversation I ask them if they would like me to pray with them. The Holy Spirit directs my words as I pray. I keep connected and involved in the church. I like to show my love for God by helping other people.

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

My prayers to Heavenly Father are answered. I have prayed for comfort over the death of my mom and I am comforted. One day several years ago, I was looking in my cupboards wondering what was I going to feed my family that night. So I prayed to God, our Heavenly Father, asking how am I going to feed my family. What should I feed them? A couple hours later a woman from church with younger children dropped by my house with a couple of black garbage bags. One bag was filled with clothes for my sons that her son had grown out of. Another bag was filled with a variety of food she pulled from her cupboards and freezer. I had only prayed to God for help and had not talked to anyone else about my situation. I believe God answered my prayer. He has answered so many prayers in such a way that only He would know what I prayed about. When I am out in nature, I feel that a Master Creator, God, put everything in place for the creation of this Earth because of the balance and beauty that I see. Show more Show less
