Hi I'm Becky

I enjoy drawing, reading and hiking. I'm a new graduate student. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 27 years old. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Clinical Laboratory Science. For the past 4 1/2 years I have worked in a hospital laboratory as a Medical Laboratory Scientist. My job involved testing patient specimens to provide results so doctors can properly care for their patients. I recently left my job to start graduate school where I am working towards a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology. I enjoy traveling and being outdoors. I have a long list of places I would like to experience someday. I love art and love to draw. I am grateful for the expressions of creativity by others. I am a good cook but I don't enjoy cooking because I would rather be spending my time elsewhere. I have run several half marathons and hope to be able to continue to run throughout my life. I enjoy reading, my favorite books are about Ernest Shackleton and his Antarctic expedition on the Endurance. His leadership in such adverse conditions is inspiring. I love to hike, hiking the Mist Trail this summer in Yosemite was the greatest hike I have done in my life, it was incredible. I have one older sister and two younger brothers. Most importantly, I am a very proud aunt of two nieces and a nephew, who I spoil rotten. I love my family very much.

Why I am a Mormon

I am grateful that both of my parents are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I have been raised with a knowledge of who I am, why I am here, and where I am going. I've had many opportunities in my life to question what I have been taught and to ask myself if I believe these things to be true. I know they are true, every time I have asked a question in prayer, I have received undeniable confirmations of the truth. I know that I am a child of God. I am one of His daughters and He wants me to be happy in this life, and to live in such a way that I can return to live with Him hereafter. He sent His son, Jesus Christ, to this earth to live a sinless life, suffer in Gethsemane, and again on the cross, and then rise from the tomb so that I could be forgiven of my mistakes. I am so grateful to have Jesus Christ as my Savior and advocate with Heavenly Father. I am not perfect, but through Jesus Christ I can be forgiven and have confidence that when I die, I can be with my Heavenly Father and family for eternity. Learning more about the sacrifice and resurrection of Jesus Christ is a source of joy in my life.

How I live my faith

As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints I have had many opportunities to serve members of the church and the community. Each month I check on the physical, emotional and spiritual well-being of fellow women of the church. I have presided over my local branch of the world's largest organization of women. In this organization, women seek to provide relief and service to those in need both locally and internationally. I have organized and participated in acts of service for friends and neighbors in need. I contribute monthly to funds used to relieve suffering and provide for those in need around the world.
