Hi I'm Arnold

I'm a husband, father and grandfather. I love the outdoors, enjoy traveling and spending time with my family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My wife and I have been married for more than fourty years. We enjoy being parents and grandparents and spending time together with our family. I have enjoyed a wonderful career in higher education administration and have spent the last several years helping to develop and direct the distance education programs for the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and University of Nebraska System. Earlier this year I moved into a new phase of life called retirment. However, I still find plenty to keep me busy. Volunteering, providing community service and serving within the church has been and continues to be an important part of my life. My wife and I enjoy traveling and doing things together. I enjoy gardening, working with wood and reading. I love hiking in the mountains and being outdoors.

Why I am a Mormon

My grandparents were converts to the Church of Jesus Chirst of Latter-day Saints. My parents were members of the Church and I grew up in the Church. However, I have come to know for myself many years ago, that Heavenly Father loves me and that Jesus Christ is our Savior. I have read the Book of Mormon and the Bible many times and know that both books contain the teachings of the Savior. When I worship Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ and faithfully strive to keep their commandments, I find joy and peace in my life. Family is very important to me and I like the emphasis the LDS Church places on the family and the way of life the church encourages us to live. The church provides individuals opportunites to serve each other and is a wonderful support group. I like how the church teachings encourage us that we should be good neighbors and help those around us no matter what faith they may be from.

How I live my faith

Daily personal and family prayer and scripture study is part of my life. When the children were still at home we enjoyed having family night together each week, where we would play games, have a spiritual message, hold a family council and then finish with some kind of dessert. My wife and I still have family night together. I have enjoyed serving in many leadership positions within the church and some within the community. I try to apply the same Christ like teachings in all aspects of my life whether with family, colleagues in the work place or interacting with others in the community. I have found if we treat others the way we want to be treated, life is very good most of the time.
