Hi I'm Laura Nash

I'm a pattern maker, fashion designer, and sewing instructor. I own Sew Chic Pattern Company, and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I LOVE fashion! As a child I asked my mom to teach me to sew. She sat me down with squares of fabric and taught me how to hem the edges. Not too long after I was designing for Barbie and making many of my own things. I sewed for my 4 children as they grew. Now they are all married and I am grandmother to 5. I am the owner of an independent pattern company, designing women's clothing with a style mix of modern and vintage. It's important to me that all my designs reflect the beauty and modesty that is within every woman. I teach nationally at expos, conference, and sewing events and have an online class. It is my wish that all people everywhere can sew!

Why I am a Mormon

I love the Plan of Happiness found in the gospel of Jesus Christ. We cannot escape difficulties, trials, and mistakes, but being a member brings me joy and peace. The scriptures are like the "game book" of life that explains everything from how we got here to where we are going and what we are doing here on this crazy earth. I don't have to wander through life searching for answers. I have the scriptures to guide me, give me understanding, an example to follow, and fill me with God's love for mankind. With prayer, I can reach up into heaven at any moment in time to discuss what is happening with me personally. I have the support of fellow Saints that, just like me, try their best to live the best possible life. There are so many reasons why I am a Mormon. These are just a very few.

How I live my faith

One factor in living my faith is staying busy and being engaged in a good cause always. Serving in and with my church community makes me feel useful and needed. In the "world" I must have certain skills and credentials, but at church, my offering is always accepted. Service is a great way to extend myself and use my talents and skills for the benefit of others. It's true that we learn to love those we serve. Just when we think there is nothing in it for us, we find out that we have benefited the most. I am so grateful that even in my imperfection, God needs me for so many things!
