Hi I'm David

I am an American, an Eagle Scout, a writer, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I enjoy a lot of different activities and hobbies, but my biggest one is writing. I especially love to write poetry. I have been writing poems for over ten years, and have self-published a book of my own poems on the beauty of nature. I love the outdoors. Something about being outside in nature brings me closer to God, and helps me recognize all He has blessed me with. I am the sixth of seven children in my family, and love being part of a big family. As a youth I worked in the Boy Scouts of America program, and received the Eagle Award, Scouting's highest award given to the youth.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and all of my immedient family were also members. For much of my growing up I went to church every Sunday because that's what all the family did. But about the age of 14 or 15, I realized I had to know for myself whether or not any of it was true; I couldn't just do it because that's what all my friends and family did and believed. The turning point for me came when I read the Book of Mormon for myself, and then then prayed about it. I asked my Heavenly Father if it was true. I felt good about it - I knew it was true. I didn't just say, "it's a good book" or anything like that, I knew it was true - the actual word of God. Because I know it is true, I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is God's chosen church on the earth today, and that it is lead by Jesus Christ, through a living prophet.

How I live my faith

I am now leaving my home to serve a mission. For the next two years I will be doing nothing else but serving others and helping them to learn how they can find an answer for themselves - just like I did. I'll be paying my own living expenses, (with some help from my loving, supportive family) and will be a minister for the Church and representitive of Jesus Christ twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. No one's making me do this, I just find so much joy in what I know about my purpose on this earth that I want to share that knowledge with the rest of God's children. Also, I own everything, including my very life, to my Savior, Jesus Christ. How could I not do everything in my power to bring others to Him? How could I not do my best to serve as His hands and feet here on the earth? Because I know that Jesus Christ died for my and made it possible to return to live with Him and my loved ones again, I have hope - I have something to fall back on when life gets hard. His grace supports me and lifts me every single day.
