Hi I'm Sam Spain

I grew up in Rigby Idaho. I love music. I am serving a mission in the Iowa Des Moines Mission. Im a mormon!

About Me

My favorite hobby is anything that has to do with MUSIC! I love to play the trumpet, piano, and also to sing. Heavenly Father has blessed my life with the talents that I have, and thats why I love sharing them so much with others. The thing I love most about music, is the spirit that it can bring into my life. When I am listening to good, wholesom, music I have joy, and peace in my life. Whenever I am having a bad day, or a bad thought pops into my head my favorite thing to do is to play the piano to clear my mind. When I am playing the piano, it just seems to let out all my stress and emotions out, and It relaxes me more than any other thing that I have. My other favorite things to do are to spend time in the outdoors either camping, hiking, fishing etc. and spending time with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

The best thing I have in my life is my family. I love my family more than anything, and would do anything for any of them. The best thing about being a Mormon, is our knowledge that our families are eternal. I dont always get along with my brothers and sisters, but it is still a great blessing to me to be able to live with my family. I cant wait for the day when I will find my eternal companion, and get married for time and all eternity, so I can start an eternal family of my own. There is no doubt in my mind that this church is true, and that its teaching are all corect. The gospel of Jesus Christ has blessed my life in so many ways. I know without a doubt that Jesus is my savior and redeemer. He has always been there for me no matter what I have gone through in my life, and I know that he will be for anyone else too.

How I live my faith

Living my faith is not always an easy task in the world today. With all of the confusion, and hatred in the world it can often be quite difficult, but living my faith also is a tool that makes my life easier. Serving in church callings and participating in the ward activities, including going to church on sunday, are things I do every week in order to help me better live my faith, and to continue enduring to the end. I am even currently serving a two year mission for the church, and love serving those around me all the time. I wouldnt trade this experience for all the money in the world. I hope that I can always be a good example, and be able to take Christ name upon me, and I strive every day to be better than I was the day before.

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

Sam Spain
A testimony is a witness or a knowing that Jesus Christ is our savior and that the Church of Jesus Christ is the Lords true Church on the earth. To recieve this wittness is something that takes effort in praying, reading our scriptures and going to church. As we do these things we can all recieve a confirmation, through the power of the Holy Ghost, that the church is true. It is very important to members of the church to all have our own testimonies that Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ live and love us, that God speaks with man today and has called a living prophet, and that this is His true church. We try to help our family and friends come to this same knowledge because we know how much happiness it will truely bring into their lives. Show more Show less

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Sam Spain
While Mormons are not required to serve a mission, it is something that is very important to most Later Day saint families. We believe in a prophet of God who has asked that all worthy and able young men serve a mission. Many LDS women choose to serve serve missions too, as well as many seniors and married couples. We consider it an honor to be able to serve full time our Savior Jesus Christ who gave his life for us. There are missionaries being called every day all around the world, and as members of the church we will continue to do everything we can to invite others to learn about the happiness the Gospel of Jesus Christ can bring into their lives. How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

Sam Spain
We learn in the scriptures that Faith is like a seed, and as we nourish it it will grow. In order to incerase our Faith we need to nourish it with reading our scriptures, praying, and going to church. While serving as a missionary I learned how important these three things truely are in helping others to build their faith. Even if you dont do one of these things your faith will not grow. What are some things that tell you there is a God?

Sam Spain
Everything around me helps me to know there is a God. I love hiking, and I feel so close to God when I am in and around his amazing creations that have been provided for our happiness. The feelings I get when I am with family and true friends, when I am making righteous decisions, and when observing Gods creations all are proof to me of a true and living God. There is no doubt in my mind that he is there, and this knowledge helps me to cope with lifes every day challenges. Show more Show less

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Sam Spain
Although members of the church are very helpfull and close to eachother, our purpose is not just to help those of the church. When we are baptised and confirmed members of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, we covenant to mourn with those that mourn, comfort those that stand in need of comfort, and to bear one anothers burdens. I believe this is talking about everyone rather than just members of the church. We are to try our best to follow the example of the Savior and help the sick and afflicted, the needy, and the naked. Every month we fast and donate the money that we would have for those meals to help those who are in need in our communities and around the world. We also send relief and help to other countries weather they are even christian or not. The churches missionary program is specifically to help those in need who are not members of this church and often not members of any other church. Show more Show less
