Hi I'm Brett

I love fancy socks, singing & dancing in my car, SPONTANEITY, exercising, God's Plan of Happiness, and EVERYTHING about life!!

About Me

I'm 22 years old living in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. My home is here, but my heart is still stuck half way between here and the great state of Texas! I served as a missionary for the church in the Texas Forth Worth Mission. There are so many valuable lessons to be learned in life, and I know we grow from experiences we have as we choose the right and live the gospel, as the Savior exemplified and taught. I love the outdoors and sports! Snowboarding, hiking, volleyball, rugby, riding my road bike, running, swimming, and working out! There is something about being physically active that helps my spirit thrive and brings such happiness in my life! I love learning and pursing knowledge. I'm going to school to become a nurse, attend religious institute classes, and love studying the gospel and having gospel conversations with my friends. I love learning from others; parents and family, friends, and random people are all people I love learning from. There is just so much to be learned in life, it's amazing!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saint because this is Christ's church, which has the fullness of his gospel. I am a member because God commands us to exercise our faith unto repentance, to be baptized, to receive the Holy Ghost, and to endure to the end; this church is the only church where you can do that in. This is the only church where you can follow Christ completely. I do not know of another place on earth that claims to have the full authority to act on behalf of God, has temples (which are literally the houses of God), and is full of miracles - like Heavenly Father and Christ appearing to someone in our time (to prepare us for the Savior's coming and to have eternal joy in the life to come)! Besides that, there are limitless physical, mental, social, educational and, most importantly, spiritual benefits and blessings. Living a life that's centered on the teachings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints means living Christ's teachings. That has helped me in EVERY aspect of my life; From the rugby fields in New Zealand, climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa, focusing in school and on my homework, setting and reaching goals, developing my talents and skills, and coming to know my Savior more. Simply put, it is the ONLY way we can have a FULLNESS of joy. The FULLNESS of the gospel. The FULLNESS of the knowledge of who Heavenly Father is and His Son, Jesus Christ. All because this is God's Kingdom on earth. (John 17:3; 2 Nephi 31:21)

How I live my faith

Simply believing in Christ is NOT enough; we must show our faith by our works. I have come to know the gospel encompasses all aspects of life. I eat healthy and exercise daily to treat my body as a temple/one of God's creations (1 Cor. 3:16-17), I do family history to learn about my ancestors and take their names to the temple so my family and I can be bound together for eternity (Malachi 4:5-6, D&C 2, JSH 1:36-39, 3 Nephi 25:5-6), I share the gospel to help others come unto Christ (Matt 28:18-20), I participate in church meetings weekly, and attend religion classes throughout the week. I know that at baptism we make a promise to represent Christ everywhere and in everything. I try to act as Christ did and help others to do this as well. I do this by helping to teach gospel classes for youth (age 14-18) from 6:40-7:30am every weekday before they go to school. I also serve the men of my local congregation by encouraging them to fulfill priesthood and baptismal promises they have made, administer the gospel to them and help them make sure all needs of congregation are being met. I keep the commandments, repent of my sins to help me become more like Christ. I follow the revelation given to apostles and prophets in our day and in the scriptures, and personal revelation I receive through prayer, scripture study, and church attendance. I've come to know that living what I believe, including keeping all God's commandments, is the only way to have a fullness of happiness.
