Hi I'm Ken Schnell

I grew up in Beavercreek, OR and I am a recent convert to the church. It's the best choice I ever made!

About Me

I am a physical therapist that works at a hospital in the Seattle metro area primarily with patients with neurological deficits and enjoy helping them toward achieving their functional goals. I am also a musician who plays drums in a local Seattle, WA band 3-4 times per month. I have played drums ever since I was 15 years old, and have a passion for all kinds of music. I am a father with two wonderful daughters and beautiful wife whom I have been happily married to since 2005.

Why I am a Mormon

My future wife told me once when we were dating that she wished to have a spouse who would take her to the temple. I had no idea what the temple was, but I eagerly said that I would be happy to do so, and thought nothing of this at the time. Little did I know that this would begin my journey in investigating what the Mormon Church was all about. The more I studied, the more I realized how much I did not know about religion and a lot of soul searching had to be done on my part to decide how I was going to proceed. I found a scripture from Matthew 7:16 that says, " Ye shall know them by their fruits", referring to recognizing true profits and leaders. The next verse states, "Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit." This really meant a lot to me because when I began following the word of God from the Book of Mormon and Bible, there were blessings that I had not experienced before. I stopped drinking alcohol and coffee and realized that I lost weight, and feel much more healthy. There are probably many other benefits from this that I have not realized have affected others in my family. What's interesting is that I have found through my studies that some of my questions may never be answered in this life. I have come to a peace within myself that there are certain things that either we are not meant to know or are not consequential to our salvation. The bottom line is that becoming a member of the Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was and is the best choice I have ever made, as I am able to enjoy life knowing what road map to follow thanks to the most correct book on earth, The Book of Mormon.

How I live my faith

I am a Ward Clerk, which is a "calling" or position held in the church. Most everyone that attends church receives a calling to help the church run smoothly and none of these positions are paid. My calling as a Ward Clerk involves assisting our Bishop and his counselors with administrative duties of the ward and it's members. I also enjoy serving others in our church and in the community. My family loves to take part in service projects to help underserved areas and people in need. I love to attend church so I can become spiritually fed by taking the sacrament and reaffirming my commitment to Heavenly Father and hearing the teachings of the profits.
