Hi I'm Mike

I love my family, I love my country, and I love my Savior. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Utah. I have a beautiful wife and three great kids. My wife and I are both music teachers. I enjoy reading and basketball. I enjoy the outdoors! Music is not only my profession but is my escape and my hobby. I love not only teaching kids how to perform music, but playing myself in jazz bands and small ensembles and musicals.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church, but as I prepared to serve a 2 year mission, I really wanted to know on my own if this was the true church on the earth. I could remember some spiritual experiences from growing up, but I truly became converted to this church when I read the Book of Mormon and specifically prayed to God and asked him if it was true. I felt peace come over my mind and a sense of calm I had never felt before. This was the spirit telling me the Book of Mormon is true. As I have lived the teachings of the church, life's experiences have shown to me again and again how Gods hand is in our lives and that He watches over us in good and bad times. Raising a family with the values of the church have helped us teach our kids what is right and wrong and how to stand up for what they believe in.

How I live my faith

I do my best to be a good example of the Savior. I try to help others with no expectation of recognition or reward. I enjoy serving in the Boy Scouts program and teaching young men values and responsibility. I enjoy sharing my musical talents through playing in church meetings and encouraging kids to learn and understand more about the hymns we sing in the church meetings.

Why is family so important to Mormons?

The world is increasingly focused on being politically correct and wants to avoid right and wrong and simply focus on the idea that people can think differently. Well being politically correct eliminates a values system. There has to be some way to know what is right and what is wrong. Some things do not lift and inspire people to become better and to serve each other. Public schools aren't allowed to teach all points of view and even history becomes distorted due to certain views held by those that write textbooks. A family provides a place where parents can teach their children what is good and what is bad. A family is where kids can see a loving relationship between a husband and wife. A family is where kids can learn how to stand up for values and how to protect innocence and virtue in world that mocks it. A family is a safe place where kids can talk to their parents about issues or concerns without fear of judgement. A family is where basic moral principles such as chastity, respect for women, and serving others can be taught and practiced. That is why family is so important. Show more Show less
