Hi I'm Chelsea

I'm a goof, I'm a hippie, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Connecticut. I'm studying Sociology and Culinary Arts in college. i love everything outdoors, and music. I'm saving to buy a sailboat someday. I'm currently serving a mission in Mesa, Arizona.

Why I am a Mormon

My dad joined the church when he was a teenager, and my Grandparents on my Mom's side also met with the missionaries as a young couple and joined the church shortly after so I've had the privilege of hearing their testimonies of becoming members of the Lord's church. I remember being in church when i was about 7 years old, in my Sunday School class, and I was of course goofing off. My teacher at the time got quiet for a minute and said something along the lines of, "oh, if only you knew how important this was." She asked us to go home after church and pray to Heavenly Father to know if the Book of Mormon is true. i decided to take her challenge. I don't know if anyone else in my class did, but i went home, locked myself in my room and knelt down on my bed and prayed more sincerely and specifically than i had ever prayed before. In a way i could understand, very clear and plain, i received the first answer to my prayers that i can remember and it has stuck with me ever since. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God, because He told me Himself. The wonderful thing is that He's answered many of my prayers since then in similar and different ways, and it's helped me to understand better how He answers and how much He truly loves me. I'm Mormon because God has testified to me through the Holy Spirit that this is right and I've found the peace and joy I've been searching for. These come through keeping the commandments of God and through the Atonement of Jesus Christ. I love my Savior and will always be grateful for the chances He's given me to repent and change and to find a happiness I haven't been able to find through any other means.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by reading the scriptures, finding examples of how people were blessed because they kept God's commandments, and then try my best to keep them myself. I am currently serving a mission in Arizona and have loved it every day. I know Heavenly Father blesses us when we love His children and serve them, and I've seen my life change dramatically as I've tried to do that. God's commandments are the same for everyone, but we get to apply them to our individual lives and families. I feel blessed to see how His gospel has blessed every one that has exercized faith to follow Him. I believe we get the opportunity to change here on earth and be tested through different trials. All of His commandments are designed to bless and help and guide us safely back to Him with our families. I live my faith by praying daily to know how i can change to be a happier, more Christ-like person, and it has changed me substantially. I'm grateful for His guidance and love.

What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

Chelsea
The puropse of life is to learn, and change and become better, more like Jesus Christ our perfect example. This is our time to be tested and to have families, with whom we can have the opportunity to live with forever. I have learned so much through the trials God has given me, and I've been able to change to become more like the person I've wanted to become much faster through the hard times, than through times when life has been "easy." I know that our Heavenly Father loves us and knows what experiences will help us to become the person we want to become. I have come to know much better than i used to, that He wants to help us accomplish our goals and He wants us to be so happy and attain all that He has. He's doing His best to help us to learn and grow and to return to Him again.  Show more Show less
