Hi I'm Spencer

I'm a policy analyst. I love my family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm finishing up my PhD in Public Policy. I do research on the finances of state and local governments. I also work for the IRS as an analyst. I have a great family that I love to spend time with. My wife and I have three young children and I the hectic pace of family life. I enjoy running and reading science fiction novels. I also often get together with friends and play board games.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of the feelings that I've had over the course of my life that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is true. I believe that the path to true joy and happiness can be found by living the principles taught by Jesus Christ as found in both ancient scripture and modern day revelation. I know this is true because I've prayed and fasted about these things and I've also tried them out in my own life.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith by taking a long term perspective on life as a whole. The most important thing to me is my relationship with my family. I try to communicate well with my wife and we work together to set good examples for our children. Every day we read from the scriptures as a family. We pray together multiple times during the day and, despite our busy schedules, we eat dinner together nearly every night. Once a week we have a family night with a lesson on about living the Gospel for our children and then we try to have an activity that everyone can enjoy. I also do a lot of activities with our congregation at church. I teach the Sunday school lesson to our men's group. I also support my wife's involvement in being a leader and counselor to the young women's youth group in our congregation.
