Hi I'm Shannon

I live in Northern Vermont. I am a paraeducator and mother of 6 children! I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother of six amazing children. I love to read and laugh with my kids! For many years I was a homemaker, but now I work as a paraeducator in a local school. I love being with the young children and teaching them. I would have to say that teenagers are the most interesting people on earth! I love to visit with them and listen to them. I guess you would say I am not the most typical housewife. I don't like to sew, knit, or put crafts together! But I love to garden, organize things, and can the food I grow. I love to read the scriptures and ponder over them. You would say I am a simple person, but I am happy.

Why I am a Mormon

Both my parents are members of the church. I was brought up in the church. Though while I was young my parents would go to church and then not for time. When I was 16 years old, I saw my cousin so happily in love with her fiance. They were married and sealed in the Washinton DC temple. I saw the joy in there eyes, I could feel the spirit, though at the time I did not realize that, so I decided that is what I wanted for myself. I began to go back to church alone without my family. I found great strength and love at church. I guess you would say, I found myself. I gained confidence in who I was, a daughter of God. This simple but profound knowledge gave me the strength and courage to move forward. Three years later, I obtained that goal of joy and met my husband. We were married and sealed in the Toronto Temple in 1990. I have often said that my life truly began when I decided to come unto Christ and to be like Him. The truth is, I have so much more to learn, so much more to experience and enjoy! I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the true church, it is His church here on earth. Joseph Smith was the chosen prophet to restore this gospel here on the earth. I am so thankful for his sacrifices and willingness to do what he did. Joseph Smith did see God the father and His Son Jesus Christ. I know that in this day, there is a prophet on earth, his name is Thomas S Monson. He leads the church on earth today. I know that as we follow the commandments and strive to live as we believe that God blesses us. We experience a sweet peaceful joy that comes from Him. I know the atonement is real. That Christ did do all that the scriptures say He did. He did suffer for us in Gethsemene so that we may repent and return to the Father one day. He died on the cross, but three days later he rose from the dead. He over came death so that we may too one day. I know that I am a daughter of God. This knowledge guides me in my thinking and doings. There is a God, our Heavenly Father, and then there is His son Jesus Christ they are seperart divine beings. I know that families can be together forever. That when we leave this life, it is not the end. That through Christ we can and will be resurrected and receive our rewards according to our choices we have made. I know that the book of mormon is true. That through reading it and abiding by its teachings we can draw nearer unto God and be more like Him. The bible is true as far as it is translated correctly. I have felt the Love of God in my life, I have seen many personal miracles in my life. God is real, and he loves us and desires for us to come to Him. I testify to you these things in the name of Jesus Christ Amen

How I live my faith

I am currently serving in our church as a camp director for Girls camp. I organize a week long camp for about 60-100 girls and adult leaders. This is so much fun and it is exciting. I visit teach 3 wonderful women in our unit. Visiting teaching is an opportunity to care and watch over each other. I have a son who is serving a mission for our church in California. He just loves the people there and the area!

Who are the Mormons?

We are just regular people trying to be the best we can be. We try to help others and be kind. We believe in Jesus Christ that he is the Son of God, our Heavenly Father. We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous and doing good to all men. We seek after lovely and praiseworthy things. We are not perfect, but we strive for it. We are people of hope and faith. We have faith in Christ and we always hope for good. I myself am a simple person, when I look out the window and see the beauty around me I can't help but think that God is such an amazing artist. This world is so beautiful, and the people, for the most part, are good. Show more Show less
