Hi I'm Cary

I am a university professor in hospitality and tourism management. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

As a university professor in hospitality and tourism management, I get to teach and do research in a fascinating and growing field of study. I have a wonderful wife and two children that I am very proud of. My son is currently serving a mission for the Church. Both my wife and me served missions when we were younger and we are happy to see our son do the same. It is a time to devote yourself full-time to doing God's work and sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. Our children are gifted musically and we try to encourage them whenever we can. Our daughter is an accomplished violinist, percussionist, and plays the piano in addition to several other musical instruments. Besides spending time with the family, I devote a lot of my extra time and energy to working the Scouting Program. I am active in many different aspects of Scouting. I like to travel and have been fortunate to be able to travel through out the United States and internationally to places like Japan and Germany.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born to parents that were members of the Church but I determined that I needed to know for myself whether this Church was true or not. As a university professor with a Ph.D., you are taught to question things and seek for proof that the concepts are true. In many ways I have approach my membership in the Church the same way. I have put the Church to the test and I have always found that I have been richly blessed by being a member of the Church. The Church makes sense to me and I have found that it is the true Church because the outcomes or results have always been positive and my life has been better because of my membership in the Church. To me, this is evidence that it is true and why I continue to be a faithful member of the Church. I am a Mormon because my life has been blessed because of this. Anyone can do the same and find out for themselves whether or not the Church is true. By following the teachings and the gospel principles of the Church, you will come to know that the Church works and that your life will be blessed in many wonderful ways. It is that simple.

How I live my faith

My family is very important to me. It is important to me to be a good husband and father. I want to be a good example and live my life according to the gospel of Jesus Christ. In the Church, I work with the youth, specifically the young men. I have always had a great love of Scouting and the principles that it teaches. As a youth I earned my Eagle Scout award and was very active in the Scouting program. The Scouting program has helped me be a good husband and father. I think this is one of the reasons, the Church adopted Scouting as part of its program for the young men in the Church. As a Scout leader, I have the opportunity to work with these great young men in the Church and help them reach their full potential.
