Hi I'm Matt Hazelgren

I'm a student, a polevaulter, and a mormon.

About Me

I have a younger brother and two wonderful parents, all of which are great examples for me. I enjoy playing all sports, but during high school I focused most of my attention on track and field. My freshman year of high school I discovered that I had a talent for pole vaulting, started training, and eventually became the Virginia state champion my senior year. I look forward to college but have not selected a major yet. At the moment I am serving a mission in the state of Oregon.

Why I am a Mormon

The Book of Mormon is the foundation of my faith. Through scripture study and prayer I have come to know that it is true. It's teachings and principles have brought me close to God and made me a better person.

How I live my faith

Right now I live my faith by attempting to be good example in everything I do. Whether I am at school, work, church, or playing sports, I try to act in a way that is pleasing to my heavenly father.

What is the Book of Mormon?

Matt Hazelgren
The Book of Mormon is a record of ancient scripture that was miraculously revealed to and translated by Joseph Smith. It relates the story of a people who lived on the american continent from roughly 600b.c. to 400a.d. and gives an account of both their spiritual and physical lives. Most importantly, the book contains the inspired writings of ancient prophets who were commanded of God to keep the records for the purpose of revealing it to our day and age. Its principles and precepts will bring you closer to Christ and help you lead a better life. Most importantly, the Book of Mormon is true. If you earnestly read and pray about it, God will let you know for yourself that it is good, that He inspired it, and that the events within its pages actually happened. This knowledge will come the same way that a knowledge of the truthfulness of the bible does, that is, through an action of faith followed by a spiritual confirmation of its validity from the Holy Ghost.
