I plan to go to college and get into Health Care most likely for Sports Medicine

Why I am a Mormon

I am a mormon because being apart of this church i have felt true happiness I know what i need to do to live with Heavenly Father again. I love this church because i know that God has a plan for me and i know exactly what that plan is. This plan tells me where i came from, why i am here, and where i am going after this life. I know that the choices that i make while i am here on this earth play a huge part on where i am going to be after this life. I am a member because it teaches me that just because Jesus Died for me that doesn't mean that i am automatically saved no matter what i do. I need to accept the fact that he died for me and accept that wonderful gift. The way i show that is through Faith in Jesus Christ, Repentance, being Baptized by immersion by someone holding the authority of God, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost by the laying on of hands by authority, and enduring to the end. Enduring to the End means that even though i will still make mistakes and i am still not perfect I need to continue to repent throughout my life, keep all his commandments the best i can, and press forward. I am a mormon because even though loved ones die and trials come to our life I know where my loved ones are and why those things happen. This church brings me true happiness more than anything else and thats why I am a member of this church.  I have come to know all of this by sincerely asking God in prayer if it is true. I have received an answer by the power of the Holy Ghost that it is true.

How I live my faith

I live my Faith in a way that I try to stay away from the evils of the world but i still have a fun life. I find peace and amazing joy living my life in accordance with the teachings Jesus Christ. I have found so much happiness in the Gospel of Jesus Christ that I want to share that with others as much as I can. This gospel is all about loving, giving, and sharing. That being said I feel like I need to share this great message with everyone. I try to have fun everyday, show my faith everyday, repent everyday, and remember the promises that i have made with God to follow him. By living in that way I have found true purpose in my life. I am also currently serving a mission for the church in Portland Oregon where I go around and share this wonderful message with people.

What is Mormonism? OR What do Mormons believe?

Mormons believe that it is only in and through Jesus Christ that we can be saved. We believe that Jesus Christ lived a marvelous life and that he had what we call the "Priesthood" which is the power and authority to baptize, bless people, heal people, and translate scriptures and things like that. Jesus gave that "Priesthood" to his twelve apostles. Afther he died the people in Jerusalem rejected and killed the apostles. As a result of that, Gods power and church left the earth because that authority was not passed on by the apostles to anybody else. God reached out to his children again in love by bringing that church and power back through a prophet Joseph Smith. God and Jesus Christ appeared to Joseph Smith in the spring of 1820 as he sought for truth and from then on restored that same church that Jesus Christ set up when he was on the earth. So today we have Jesus Christ's original church, Gods power and authority, a prophet and twelve apostles, Gods plan for everyone, and temples. The only way that anyone can come to know that this church is true or anything about it is by asking God through prayer. As you pray you will feel feelings of peace, love, and joy. These feelings come from the power of the Holy Ghost. Show more Show less

Why is authority to perform a baptism important?

Because Jesus told us in the Bible to follow his example in all ways. So we as Mormons take that literally. Jesus traveled a long ways to Judea to find John the Baptist to be baptized of him because he had the authority to do that. Also , John the Baptist was the only one who had the authority at that time to baptize. If he would have pulled just anybody off the street and asked them to baptize him that would not have meant anything. He went to someone who had the authority to baptize. That is why the authority to perform baptisms is important because that is what Jesus did. This authority that Jesus was baptized by was lost after the The death of Chirst and the rejection of the apostles. Because the apostles were rejected and killed the authority left the earth and was lost for a period of time. What we claim is that that authority is back today. It was restored or given to Joseph Smith by Heavenly Messengers sent from God. We can come to know that this is true by asking God if Joseph Smith was a prophet and if the Book of Mormon is the word of God. Show more Show less

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Yes, there is no doubt that we believe the Bible to be the word of God. It truly testifies of Christ, that he lives and loves us. It is a beautiful book.   Show more Show less
