Hi I'm Derek

I am from Utah, I like sports, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Utah and have lived there all my life. I love spending time with family and friends. Currently I am in British Columbia Canada serving a two year mission. I like playing Sports and I always have to be doing something if I am not sleeping. I really like being weird and obnoxious to make others laugh, but yet try and maintain a respectable character at the same time. I love talking to people about Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of the blessings and the truth about God that the church contains. I grew up in Utah and was born into the church and have been a member my whole life. I used to go to church and read the scriptures because my parents told me to. As I got older I realized the blessing that the church had on my life. I was respected by other people, and became a nicer person as I truly let the atonement of Jesus Christ become apart of my life. The values of the Church of Jesus Christ became who I was and I came to find lasting happiness. I am a Mormon because it makes me happy. The answers that it gives to life's greatest questions are ones that make sense and help me recognize who I am and what I can become. The focus around Jesus Christ helps me attain the comfort when life gets hard. There came a time when I had to find out for myself if this was Jesus Christ's Church on the earth. It was only through personal line of communication with God prayer that I came to know that this church is the one that is here on the earth for me to become most like Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

Well currently I am on a volunteer two year mission in British Columbia, Canada. I live my faith through keeping the commandments that God has given. Three of the basic commandments that give me strength to keep all the commandments of God are daily Scripture Study, daily Personal Prayer, and weekly Church attendance. As I do all three of these and consistently strive to live the way Jesus Christ would I am able to serve all those that I choose to serve out of love for them. I love keeping myself clean and pure in the sight of God and try my hardest to always stand as a witness of God at all times and stand up what I believe in.

What do Mormons believe about family?

The Mormon's believe that Family is the most important social unit in time. It is the thing that God has given to mankind to help us become happier on this life. The Family is ordained of God. Families are able to be sealed for time and all eternity through the sealing power that has been restored through the prophet Joseph Smith.  In the temple families can be sealed together forever never to be separated again. Not even by death only if you have been married in the temple under the sealing power that has been restored. Marriage is between a husband and wife only. Show more Show less
