Hi I'm Jess

I'm a Geek, I love writing Fantasy/Sci Fi Stories, I go fishing all the time, and I'm a Mormon

About Me

I grew up in what used to be a small farm town. I enjoy being a geek with my friends. We play Role Playing Games like Dungeons and Dragons and Star Wars. While we don't dress up in funny Costumes we do argue and quote the movies and books often. I've always loved to read and write anything that comes to mind. I believe that its a great outlet and way to be individual and spontaneous. I don't think you have to be realistic to be happy. I've been an avid member of the Boy Scouts of America since I turned 8. I love being in the outdoors and camping in a hammock with a tarp. People call me crazy, but I still manage to stay dry. I studied Martial Arts for 13 years with my dad and loved everything about it. Especially studying the history of my style. I play Orchestra Bass, Bass Guitar, a little bit of guitar, and I try to slide by on the drums. I love playing Blues and Classic Rock. I love going fishing on a bad day just to make me feel better. Life is just awesome.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon for the simple reason that its the only way I've found true and everlasting joy. Things like Playing the Guitar or watching a movie with friends may bring some entertainment for the time. But the Everlasting Gospel has brought me to a level of Happiness that can only be described as Angelic. Now I'm at the point that I can't imagine myself not being a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I am living my faith by waking up every morning and reminding myself that I'm a member of the most fulfilling church in the world. I look for the little things in the gospel that help me out and I aim for those things. I served as a Missionary in the Maryland Baltimore Mission for two years and I loved it. I am blessed with the opportunity to offer my Testimony to those who don't have one. Even though I'm no longer home, I still try to influence the Scout Troop that I had the opportunity to serve with. Living your faith involves more than saying that you're a Christian or that you read the Bible. Living your faith involves sharing your beliefs with other people whenever you get the chance too. Your example or something you say could make all the difference in another persons life. I keep the commandments that are laid out in the scriptures and by the Prophets because I've tested them and found that they work. And most of all. I'm served in the Maryland Baltimore Mission. The greatest mission in the world. I now work at a gas station where I answer questions about the church and the gospel on a frequent, almost daily basis.

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Jess
Not a chance. Everyone is a child of God. If we helped only the members of our church then where would our harmony with the rest of the world be? We take great joy in helping others that may need it. Service is one of the most selfless ways to show love to another. John 15:13 says "Greater love hath no man than this. That a man lay down his life for his friends" We don't have to die for another. We may be willing to, but to give of our time and efforts to help another is to show great love. Show more Show less
