Hi I'm Elba

I'm a Mormon. I was born in Puerto Rico, and found the Church in Chicago, IL.

About Me

I strive to be righteous in order to return to live in Celestial Kingdom together with my family forever, with My Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. Every day I thank My Heavenly Father for all the many blessings I receive and ask Him to let me have The Holy Ghost so He can inspire and help me to be a better person today than I was yesterday, so that tomorrow I can be a better person than I am today. I have a very strong testimony of Jesus Christ's mission here on Earth. He came to atone for my sins and the sins of every human being that has lived, lives now and will ever live on the Earth. He made it possible for us to return to live with our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ after we resurrect, if we repent, get baptized by someone with the proper authority, continue to live righteously and make all the necessary covenants with Our Heavenly Father in one of His Holy Temples. I testify this to be true, in the sacred name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Why I am a Mormon

I had previously studied several creeds and denominations searching for the truth and had come to the conclusion that there was not a true church of Jesus Christ on the Earth, until the missionaries knocked on my door in November of 1981 and presented The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to me. I was baptized in the evening on December 27, 1981 in the baptismal font at the Wilmette Stake, in Illinois, USA. I received the Holy Ghost by the laying on hands and was confirmed a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the same place and on the same evening. A series of previous events led me to take this extremely important and significant step up in the ladder that leads to my eternal salvation and exaltation. After this event, I have come to find true faith, peace, joy and happiness beyond description. I now know who I am, where I came from, what is my life's purpose, where I am going after my passing, I am certain about the resurrection of human beings, and I have made eternal covenants with My Heavenly Father that will allow me, if I faithfully keep those covenants, to return to My Heavenly Father and live eternally in Celestial Kingdom with my family.

How I live my faith

I have been a member of the Church since 1981. I hold a Temple recommend and attend the Temple on a weekly basis. I have a very strong testimony of Our Heavenly Father, of Jesus Christ, of Joseph Smith, of the Book of Mormon, of our current Prophet Thomas S. Monson, and all of our Church beliefs. I encourage everyone to pray and ask, so you can know this for yourself, feel the same way I do, have peace beyond description, and be the happiest person on Earth. We are precious children of Our Heavenly Father, He knows us personally, cares about us, and loves us very much. I testify that I know Jesus Christ atoned for our sins for us to be able to return to Our Heavenly Father with our families for all eternity, that indescribable peace, joy, and happiness only comes from having faith in Jesus Christ, repenting from our sins, getting baptized by and receiving the Holy Ghost from someone with the proper authority, from enduring to the end, from being truthful and honest within ourselves and with Our Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen. I challenge everyone to ask Our Heavenly Father, with a sincere heart and with the certainty that He will let you know about the truthfulness of the Mormon Church, and everything in it. When you have a strong testimony of the Church, there is no power below, over or above the Earth that can change that or take it away from you. I promise you if you do this, you will feel peace and happiness beyond description, regardless of your circumstances, and you will want to share what you have with everyone you become in contact with.

What is the Book of Mormon?

Elba
The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ. It contains some of the records of the ancient inhabitants of the American continents, who were descendants of Abraham, and includes a record of Jesus Christ's visit to them after he resurrected. It had been buried by the Angel Moroni and he gave it to Joseph Smith JR to translate it from ancient writings of these people in gold and bronze plates, through the power of the Holy Ghost. Its purpose is to testify that Jesus is the Christ, and to bring those who read it closer to our Heavenly Father, when they ask humbly about its truthfulness. Show more Show less

What is the priesthood?

Elba
The priesthood is the authority to perform righteous acts and sacred ordinances in the name of God on the Earth. Each priesthood holder in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints can trace the lineage of their Priesthood Authority back to Jesus Christ and to Adam, who received the Priesthood from Our Heavenly Father.
