Hi I'm Yolanda

I'm from the United States and I am a convert to the church.

About Me

I'm a divorced mom of two adult sons. I have worked for a large global communications company for over 30 years. I have been a member of the church since 1998. I enjoy traveling to visit my family in the US. I am active in the church and am especially joyful for the knowledge of the fullness of the gospel. My long-term goal is to not only read and study the Book of Mormon in English, but to read and study it in Spanish also. I am bilingual and fluent in both languages and I see this as a challenge to accomplish.

Why I am a Mormon

I converted to the church when I received a testimony of the truthfulness and divinity of the Book of Mormon. As I was growing up my father used to share stories of his country from ancient times and would talk about the different tribes and the differences between them. He always ended with saying the tribes, although different, were from one group of people that came to the Americas from the Middle East. I never understood how that could have happened, but I never forgot his teachings. When I read the Book of Mormon, so many of his teachings became so clear to me. The explanations were there. It was as if the Book of Mormon was the verification I needed to understand all the teachings my father gave us. It actually solidified what I had been taught and gave me additional information that I didn't know. It gave me a connection to my Heavenly Father, that I didn't have before. The knowledge of misunderstood or unknown things came to me from reading the Book of Mormon. Since it is another testament of Jesus Christ, it also helped me to understand the Bible more clearly. The questions I had on some Bible versus became very clear to me. I love the Book of Mormon. I know that it was divinely inspired. I know that Heavenly Father still speaks to us through prophets. We have a living prophet who leads our church today. I know that Heavenly Father loves us and has a plan for all of us. All things spoken from His mouth are truth and He keeps His promises.

How I live my faith

I am very active in the church. I love the fellowship and church family I have there. They all teach me something about life, the church, myself, and others. I try to live my faith by being the best I can be. We are all imperfect...not one of us is perfect, but if we do our best to be obedient to Heavenly Father's commandments, and we work to strengthen ourselves and our faith, if we just walk in the right direction, holding on to our beliefs...Heavenly Father is always there with us and it is HIS grace that gets us through.
