Hi I'm Elisheva

I'm a Missionary, a Waldorf graduate, and I'm a Mormon :)

About Me

My name is Elisheva, I am twenty-one years old and I attend college in Idaho. I am currently serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Lima, Peru! Serving the Lord could not give me any more happiness. Giving people the opportunity to know Jesus Christ and recognize their true potential as children of God is indescribable. I grew up in California with a mother, father and two brothers. We lived on what I suppose you could call a "small farm" taking care of chickens, goats, geese, dogs and cats. I had a wonderful childhood attending a Waldorf School and being raised in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. My parents were both converts to the Church and they got divorced when I was nine years old. Both of them remarried after a couple of years and I inherited six new step siblings. These new additions to my family helped me to grow and discover who I am, what I want to be and how I want to live my life. Through experiencing many trials, I was able to learn a lot and I was able to become more aware of the world around me. When I graduate from College, majoring in Social Work, I plan to found a non profit organization to help troubled children. I love playing volleyball, basketball and softball. I love to do community service, especially working with the elderly and with children. I enjoy sewing, cooking, crocheting, swimming, hiking and living life to it's fullest. I live by the quote, "Each day's a gift, and not a given right."

Why I am a Mormon

The answer to this question is simple. Being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints brings me more happiness than I could possibly imagine. I grew up in the church and did not really gain the strong testimony that I have until recently. I went to the activities, I attended church, and it always felt right, but I didnt really get into the "why" until the year after I graduated High School. It was a really difficult year for me and I struggled spiritually. However, through the trials that I faced that year, I was able to grow and gain a testimony of the truth of the Gospel. Through praying, and studying scriptures, words of the Prophets and attending Church, I came to know for myself that Heavenly Father knows me personally. He loves me. He knows and understands everything I go through and can help me through any trial that I might have. I know that when we pass on to the next life, we will be able to see the loved ones that we have lost. I know that because of Jesus Christ, I can live with my Heavenly Father again. Through living the commandments of the Gospel, I am happy. This is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith to the best of my abilities. I try to live as Christ lived and strive to be like him in everything I do. I am far from perfect but I know that when I try my best to live the commandments and obey the words of the Prophets, I am blessed immeasurably. Serving a mission is a way that I have decided to live my faith and show Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, as well as my family and friends how much I am grateful for their love and the Gospel. Being a representative of Jesus Christ truly is a blessing.

How can I know Mormonism is true?

Gaining a testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the most important thing that one can do on this earth. If you truly have the desire to know, if you have a sncere heart and are humble, having firm faith that Heavenly Father will let you know if the church is true or not, you can gain the knowledge for yourself through prayer. Prayer is the key to knowledge and if you have faith, Heavenly Father will manifest the truth unto you through the power of the Holy Ghost. Show more Show less

Why do Mormons perform proxy baptisms in their temples?

We believe that families can live together forever. When someone passes on, who has not had the opportunity to hear the Gospel, we can be baptized for them here on earth inside our temples. We believe that if you did not learn about the Gospel on earth, you will have the opportunity to learn it in Heaven. Being baptized is essential to Heavenly Father's plan for His children. Because it can only be performed on earth, we are baptized, in the name of Jesus Christ, for them so that they can live for eternity with our Father in Heaven.  Show more Show less
