Hi I'm Jordan

I'm Australian, I'm currently serving a full-time mission in France and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My family consists of my three beautiful sisters, my awesome mum, genious dad and me. I have been blessed with the oppotunity to serve a mission in the Paris Mission, France. Before my mission I used to love watching AFL on the weekend and playing basketball with friends. During the week I went to university and studied Chemical Engineering. I love studying the applications of engineering in daily life and I find it amazing that nature is so structured and everything has its own function and purpose. I have a firm belief that such perfect structure cannot be the product of total chaos without an omnipotent and omniscient engineer.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a mormon because I love my Heavenly Father and his son Jesus Christ. I have no doubt that I will see them again one day. Jesus Christ is my perfect example and I try to be like him every day. I find that when I choose to follow him and make decisions even when I know they will be hard, I am always able to accomplish the thing that I set out to do. I love my family and if I wasn't able to be with them in heaven, I dont think it wouldn't be heaven at all. I grew up in the church and never really believed all the things that were taught to me, but when I found myself making bad choices in my life, I started to feel miserable. I got to a point where I saw the happiness of those around me and I just knew that I was missing something in my life. Eventually I realised that when I gave the Gospel my full attention and really tried to listen and do what my teachers taught me at church, I was so much happier. Then through my prayers and the Holy Ghost I gained a undeniable witness that the Church of Jesus Christ has truly been restored to the earth and that I can live with God again. I know that god lives, and with that knowledge, I have been able to find true peace and happiness. This has helped me to help others find happiness and by doing so I have received more joy in serving others than I had ever thought possible.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by attending church on sunday, reading the book of mormon every day and putting myself in places that I know I can feel the spirit. I love to share what I know to be true, so I am serving a volunteer mission for the next two years in France. By sharing what has given me great joy in life I feel as though I am truly living what I believe and know to be true.

What is the difference between attending church and the temple?

The difference between attending the temple and attending church is that we welcome all to come and worship god at church. Churches are a place where we go to take the sacrament (bread and water), to learn about the gospel and also the commandments. In a way we go to church to learn the doctrines and teachings which will enable us to live our lives righteously, in order to be worthy to enter the temple. The temple is a place of holiness that has been dedicated for the purpose of performing sacred and special ordinances. Because we believe that it is sacred and unique, the House of the Lord can only be entered by those who show god that they are worthy to enter into his holy house, by obeying his commandments and living his gospel in its entirety. It is important to understand that sacred is not the same as secret. Secret things are never shown or available to anyone ever. However, the temple is sacred which means, just like church, we invite all to come and perform the ordinances therein, but first they must show that they are worthy to enter, by living the commandments and being fully converted to the gospel of Jesus Christ. How are the activities of the Mormon missionaries funded?

My mission is completely funded by me and my family. Before my mission I saved for a year while studying and it was very tiring at times. I had a great boss who helped me out and gave me a great amount of flexibility and I was able to save a majority of what I needed to serve my mission. My family was kind enough to support me and agreed to pay for the extra expenses of my mission. Every month the money I saved is given to me by my Missionary leaders in the mission that I serve, thus I do not have to worry about an income. This definitely decreases the stress and pressure of a mission and I am more able to help others come to a knowledge of the truth of the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. Show more Show less

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Just as in times of old, God has called a prophet to reveal important truths to the world. Amos 3:7 we read that God reveals secrets to his servants the prophets. I understand these 'secrets' to be truths that we all need to know in order to come closer to God and inevitably live with our Heavenly Father again. The prophet holds the keys of Gods Holy Priesthood to lead and guide the church on the Earth. God gives us this guidance because He loves us and He wants us to live with him again. Heavenly Father is also perfect and unchanging and thus He continues to send prophets. The prophets such as Noah, Abraham, Moses and others have all revealed great things during their lives and time as prophets, but the existence of prophets did not cease with the Old Testamant. Joseph Smith was the first prophet of our time and Thomas S. Monson is the prophet who leads and guides the church today. If you want to know whether or not there is a true and living prophet on the earth, you must listen to their words and consider whether the prophet teaches his own words or the words of a true and living God.
