Hi I'm Bob

I'm a Vetran, a Brother and Father, a searcher, a Christian ... Oh, and I'm Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in the 60's & 70's. Had to deal with drugs, prejudice, combat and a return to civilian life. Was married/divorced; we had 3 wonderful kids, 2 boys and a girl. I've always enjoyed camping, hunting, and fishing. I've read a lot, SciFi-Fantasy/Drama/Christian, and my favorite shows are SciFi/Drama.  I love religious movies old and new, action movies, and movies with a moral.

Why I am a Mormon

Since age 9 I've KNOWN that Heaven is real; having almost died of Tonsil poisioning. After three days of intensive medications, they did surgery just to give me a chance to live. I remember how warm and bright (not blinding, just lit up everywhere) and comforting it was, and how entrancing the angels choir sounded as I was ascending to Heaven. Then I woke. But I KNEW that heaven existed. When I look back now I realize that our Lord had his hand on my life even before that. I recovered from 'Glandular (Rheumatic) Fever' with almost no affects. When I was 12 I accepted Jesus as my Savior and was baptised. As I've grown and moved around I've know many churches. Not just a visit but to find the truth of the Gosple. They all had the basics and yet I was not satisfied. In February 2010, after many, many years with no contact, I phoned my sister. It was a wonderful call which led with prayer and Gods hand to me joining her in Reno that June, just 3 days prior to major spinal surgery for her due to an accident in January 2010. I subsequently discoverd she became a mormon in her teens (I did say many, many years) but had only recently returned to the church. I sat in on her missionary teaching sessions. She had warned everyone I was a christian but not a joiner. They were quite surprised and pleased by my questions and comments about what they taught. I read in the Book of Mormon and gave heavy thought to what I read, prayed as I had become accustomed to do. As He has in the past and since, God showed me what I hadn't found elsewhere. The TRUTH unaltered, unvarnished, raw and real. The Gospel as Christ, Himself, had taught it and totally in line with the Bible but not made comfortable. I know Jesus was, is and will be. I also know the Gospel has ben Restored and the truth lies in the Bible and the Book of Mormon. Read it earnestly and Pray, you can know it as well.

How I live my faith

I study scripture, both the Bible and the Book of Mormon, for the teachings I need to be an effective help to our membership. I love going to church and sunday school, giving prayer and testimonials, serving the Sacrament is one of my greatest honors. I strive to help my neighbors and church members as much as I'm able. I've been called to be a Ward Missionary which simply means I get to visit members and non-members in my area to see how I can help them. Whether that is physical or spiritually is according to the leading of the Holy Spirit. I'm reading for those with visual impairments and preparing for any other calling I might receive. Welcoming visitors and greeting members is always the best way to start a Sunday, after moring prayer of course. I also strive to apply the principles that I learn and share to my own life and family. I love how I grow as I serve, and help others do the same.

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

As a Momon my goal is to live a Christ like life. Jesus didn't reach out to the believers He taught them, but He reached out to the non-believer and His ministry was unto Jew and non-Jew alike. His was a life of service, physical, emotional and spiritual. As a family unit we do our best to take care of each other but as children of God we must reach and lift those around us who need a hand. Like Christ, It is our service to others that leads to beleif and by which we shall be judged. Show more Show less
