Hi I'm Lorisa

I'm a wife and mother. I love music, working with my hands, & serving others. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a finance graduate and the mother of a beautiful little girl who I love staying at home with all day! I love teaching her about Christ and how to serve others. I enjoy hiking, going to the beach, cooking, working in the yard, fixing things, and almost any creative project. I play the cello and piano and am learning Spanish in my free moments. I love life and try to share that love with those around me.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it brings me so much Joy! There is so much truth to be found in the Book of Mormon. It teaches us the Plan of Salvation and how we can return to live with our Heavenly Father. It warns us of the perils of pride, teaches us the importance of family, and illustrates the strength and joy that comes when we trust in our Savior Jesus Christ and give up all our sins to know Him. The basic principles taught in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints teach us of the love our Heavenly Father has for us and His desire for us to become as He is. We achieve this through attaining attributes such as faith, hope, charity, patience, and humility that were best exemplified by His Son Jesus Christ while He was on the earth. Taking these steps toward Christ has given me a greater understanding of myself and who I want to become. As I continue serving and trusting in Him I know He will strengthen me through affliction and mold me into more than I could become on my own. I know that we have a living prophet who gives us modern revelation specifically for our day. I know God lives and He loves us so much! He has not left us alone! I know that as I have turned my life towards Him my burdens have been lightened, my pathways have been lighted, and I have experienced overwhelming joy!

How I live my faith

My husband and I have been involved in the Boy Scout program since the time we got married and absolutely love it! We attended Wood Badge Scout training together and that only increased our love of making a difference in the lives of the youth. I recently served as Webelos Den Leader where I got to host Pinewood Derbies, do projects, and just have a lot of fun with the boys. I now get to work with the primary children and love hearing them bear testimony of the simple truths about life. I enjoy monthly visits with some of the sisters in my ward and learning from their lives how I can be a better wife and mother. I am always working on and setting new goals that help me become a better person and more like my Savior. I also constantly look for opportunities to serve others- whether in the ward, neighborhood, community, or the grocery store. Even a simple "hello" can brighten someone's day.

Why is family so important to Mormons?

It is within families that we learn the basic values of faith, virtue, knowledge, temperance, patience, brotherly kindness, godliness, charity, humility, and diligence. These values are the tools that help us have integrity and make righteous choices that will allow us to return to our Heavenly Father. Families also help us better understand the relationship we have with our Heavenly Father and the love He has for us.  Show more Show less
