Hi I'm Wes

I love sports, I sing in the shower, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the pretty typical college student who struggles daily to balance the demands school, work and a social life. Although I spend the largest chunk of time studying to be a Physician Assistant, my greatest joy comes from spending time with people. I also love learning new things, playing sports, and spending time outside. I have two beautiful sisters and incredible parents who have taught me to work hard and accomplish my goals and desires; I owe them much because of their love and patience for me.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of this church because it truly is Jesus Christ's Church once again established on the earth. I know this because I prayed and asked God if the church was true, if the Book of Mormon was true, and if Joseph Smith truly did restore the church. I didn't see God or angels. I didn't hear a voice. I didn't need to. I felt a calm, peaceful reassuring feeling telling me those things were all true. I have felt those feelings over and over in my life as i have read my scriptures, gone to church, prayed, and done my best to live right and to keep Gods commandments. This church is the only true church on the earth. We have a prophet who recieves revelation from God on the things that we need. We are the only church having a fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ. I also have come to learn that there simply is no way for me to make it in this life on my own. It requires the help of my Heavenly Father to guide me and to give me extra help as I go throughout my life. As a member of this church I have felt that help many times in more ways than I can describe. It is incredible the love I have felt. Through going to church, saying my prayers, and reading the scriptures, I have been able to recieve answers to my prayers and have recieved great comfort. I know that i cannot do this by myself but that with Heavenly Father I can do anything. I know that the authority from God to run a church has been given to a living prophet who can recieve revelation and can tell us the things God wants us to know. As I have been a member of this church and tried my best to live the commandments, I have grown closer to my Heavenly Father and to Jesus Christ. Overall I guess I would just say that i am a member of this church because i know it is true and because living its teachings have brought me so much happiness and I know it is the only way to be truly happy FOREVER.

How I live my faith

I have found that the most important way I can show my faith is through love. I can show my love to Christ through both keeping His commandments and by loving and serving those around me. Even if it is as simple as talking to someone who looks lonely or cheering up someone who is having a bad day, I can live by faith by doing the things Christ would do if He were here.

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

Yes! Family relationships don't have to end at death but rather they can last for eternity! It has been a big comfort to me in this life knowing that i don't need to worry about losing a family member because God has created a plan where families will be able to exist forever. When it is time for people to pass on, knowing that gives me great comfort because i will not only be able to see them again but i will be able to live with them for eternity! To me, it would not be heaven if i was not able to live with my family. I love my family very much and I know that Heavenly Father gave me my family here on earth to help me learn and grow. But also they will be my family in heaven as well. All those times where my family is having fun and are loving each other, I think that is a little bit of what heaven will be like. A perfect place where we can be truly happy and be with the one's who we love forever. Show more Show less

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

The purpose of missionaries is simply to invite others to come unto Christ. They do this by teaching about Jesus Christ and his gospel and inviting people to live it. Missionaries can answer any questions you might have about the church as well as share personal experiences which have influenced them in their lives. Missionaries are also willing to help out in any way that they can, even if that means helping people move or pulling weeds in the garden. Show more Show less

What does Mormonism teach regarding baptism?

Baptism is essential for salvation. Just as Jesus Christ was baptized by John the Baptist, we too must be baptized by immersion by someone who has that authority from God. When we are baptized we are washed clean of our sins. We promise God to do our best to our best to follow Him and in return, He promises us His spirit to always be with us. Show more Show less

Who is the Mormon prophet today?

The prophet today is Thomas S. Monson. He is a man called of God, just as prophets of old. He does not have this responsibility in order to gain fame or to make money. Nobody in the church is paid. He is an honest man who delivers the word of God to the people of the world. Having a prophet is critical to the true church of Jesus Christ because only the prophet holds all the keys of the priesthood needed to run the church. Show more Show less
