Hi I'm Taylor

The possibilities are endless because I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Currently I am serving as a full-time Missionary for the LDS church in Coos Bay, Oregon and I am LOVING every minute of it! I love learning about other people's perspectives, religions, and ideas as I feel that we all have a contribution to make in this world. Before leaving to Oregon I was an avid cross country and track runner. I also really enjoyed to travel, play sports, do photography, hike, and spend time with family and friends.

Why I am a Mormon

We are surrounded by turmoil and societal problems. Daily I run into people who struggle with a wide array of issues - including myself. As I have lived the gospel, and watched others do so, I have seen an increase of strength, understanding, and will. "I know Heavenly Father loves me..." and that has made all the difference. I know who I am, why I am striving to progress, and have so many available avenues that will help me to achieve happiness. We all want happiness in our lives, this is the "American Dream". Money, cars, drugs, alcohol, video-games, gambling, are all things that have been used to fill this void we feel when we separate ourselves from God for what we feel will give us that happiness. I KNOW that when I live the principles of the gospel of Jesus Christ I am happier, more fufilled, and excel in other areas of life that are not even connected with so called "church". I have felt that change within myself and the power to commune with my Father in Heaven as I have lived these principles. The gospel has blessed me more than I will ever know, this is why I cling to it with a hope that I will continue to reach greater heights than ever before.

How I live my faith

Living the LDS faith is an interesting task because it is not just a choice to be LDS, it is a LIFESTYLE. As Christ is centered in my life, my thoughts, actions, and words come into alignment with His will. Isn't that what this life is all about? Progression? Learning to be as Christ is? Currently I am serving an LDS mission and that has helped me to live my faith to a new level. As a missionary there are addition guidelines that help us to become more spiritual intune and focused on His will. Sharing His special message is a privilege and blessing. It is a test we should all be willing to try. Will living the principles of the Gospel, as taught to me in both the Book of Mormon and Bible, bring me closer to Christ and help me to experience greater happiness/fulfillment in life? My experience tells me, YES!

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Taylor
No. Men age 19 are definately encouraged to prepare themselves to prepare a mission some day. As I have served my mission I understand why. There are many experiences and life lessons that I have learned from my mission that I may have never had if I had not devoted my time to the Lord. Because we are limited in our correspondence with our family and friends, you really begin to understand the importance of family and the blessings that come from having strong parents. You also learn how to live with someone who has a very different background and lifestyle than you may have. Your faith is strengthened as it is put to the test on a daily basis. You develop a strong relationship with God, better relationships with those around you, better social skills, and more appreciation for the blessings you have recieved in your life. Are we required to serve missions? No. Should we be? YES! It is something that has changed my life and many others - for the better.  Show more Show less
