Hi I'm Hyrum

I'm a college student, I've been a successful runner, I'm a friend, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am attending college trying to get a start on my life. i love running! there's something about trying to break limits and set personal records that i love. I love to laugh and take time to look for reasons to smile in our lives. I hope that one day i can play an influential role in the lives of many people! That's the hope!

Why I am a Mormon

This is my relationship with God! At a time in my life where i needed him the most he showed me what path i needed to walk to find Him in my life. He's given me opportunities by being a mormon to draw closer to him and progress to reach my potential here in this life! I do that because i have found Jesus Christ and I have been shown constant ways to continue to draw closer to Him in all things!

How I live my faith

I just try to act as Jesus Christ would if He was with us. I think of how He would treat others and try to treat them that way. I hope that my love for others can help them feel the love that God has for them in their lives.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

We only worship our Heavenly Father. Joseph Smith was an instrument to bring his Gospel back to earth so that i could find peace and happiness in my life. The Father is who we must come to know and love. He used Joseph Smith to bring the way to do that back after it was lost in it's fullness after the Saviors death. Show more Show less

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

About your relationship with Jesus Christ! they will share messages about how Jesus Christ can have a stronger influence in your life. They will share steps and things that we can do to show the Savior our love for Him. They will help you take what in your life is not in alliance with God and his will, and change to become more like the Savior in all that we do. Show more Show less

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

Faith is something that we have to build everyday and have grow stronger. Ways that we can build our faith are simple...prayer, fasting, study the scriptures, listen to the prophet, and read a book named the book of mormon. and pray to find the truth. Heavenly Father will show you the way and guide you and help you build that faith. Show more Show less

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

A testimony is something that is known. Like i can say that i know that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and my Lord and Savior. I know that the Book of Mormon is true and goes hand in hand with the bible. I know that the church is true and is Christ's church. those are simple examples of testimonies. Testimonies are witness's of the spirit. When the spirit witness's that something is true you now know that it is true, and so you have a testimony of it. Show more Show less

How are the activities of the Mormon missionaries funded?

Missionaries are people who are not paid for what they do. Missionaries pay for their own missions. The money comes out of their own pockets. Missionaries are to spread the Gospel of Christ and bring others closer to Christ through the message that they share. They pay for their living expenses, food, and all other needs while they are out on their missions. These missionaries have found something that has made them happy and they want others to experience the same happiness that they have felt and to come unto Christ and to experience greater faith and greater blessings in their lives. What is faith?

Alma 3221 "And now as I said concerning faith-faith is not to have a perfect knowledge of things therefore if ye have faith ye hope for things which are not seen, which are true." like that scripture states faith is not a perfect knowledge but a hope. just because you don't know for sure fact that something is there doesn't mean that you don't have faith. Faith is a hope that something is there that is true! your faith will grow as you exercise your faith. Alma 3228 as this scripture states it compares faith to a seed that if you plant it and it is good it will grow and bring forth delicious fruit...if we exercise our faith it will grow and bring forth great blessings and knowledge. Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

We know that their is truth in the world we share that God has given us more truth that can build us higher. A proof that Jesus Christ has restored the church that He set up on earth, is now restored through a prophet that He called. I love this message because it has brought me closer to Jesus Christ even more than anything else, so missionaries share it so others can have that same Joy. Show more Show less

What is the priesthood?

The priesthood is the authority of God given for the salvation of mankind...it is the authority given to us to perform sacred ordinances such as baptism and receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost. It is the priesthood that John the baptist held on his earthy ministry as well as Christ himself held in his ministry to heal the sick and raise the dead. Show more Show less

Why do you have 12 Apostles? They were just meant to be around for the time of Jesus Christ, not to be replaced with new apostles.

in the book of Ephesians we see that Christ sets up his church and tells the people that the foundation of his church is set up on prophets and apostles with Christ himself being the chief cornerstone leader ...Christ does not change. If that is the way that He set up His church then that would mean that it is the way it needs to be done. in the book of Acts we see that Peter calls Matthias to be the new apostle that means that they were still calling apostles and prophets after Christ's death and resurrection. Christ church is set up the same way even today. Show more Show less

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

No, when a series of Tornado's tore through the southern states of Alabama, Georgia, and Tennessee in 2011 the LDS church jumped in and helped who ever it was not just those of our faith but we worked with those who were not of our faith repairing houses, cutting fallen tree's, and patching roofs. We are all God's children and the church will help all those who stand in need of help. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe concerning the doctrine of grace?

We need grace! we are a fallen people! we fall short of the Glory of God everyday and every hour! I need to live as the Savior would have me live though. I need to follow Him. Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

Prophets who lived in America during the same time that the stories in the bible were happening, but it was given to us by God to connect with Him. I use it in my life to align my will with God's and feel His love and peace for me as His child. Show more Show less

Is it true that Jesus appeared in North America after his crucifixion and resurrection according to the Book of Mormon?

Is it true? it seems only fair that since the sign of the coming of Christ was shown around the whole world and not just in Jureselum that others in the world would get the opportunity to see Christ as well and to witness of Him. Christ would say "Other sheep i have which are not of this fold..." it would seem important that all the children of God get a chance to witness Him and Bear testimony of Him. I know that Christ did appear to them. Read it and find out. Then ask God if His Son came to the Americas. Show more Show less

Why don’t Mormons have paid clergy?

We are called to worship God, when we are baptized we covenant with God to Mourn with those that mourn and comfort those that stand in need of comfort. We are commanded to serve one another, and for free. In my life being able to dedicate my time to the Lord and sacrifice my time and money to serve Him has brought me more blessings then i ever could have imagined! i would much rather have that then to receive money for what i had done. What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?

the word of wisdom is God's law of health. we learn in Corinthians that our body is a temple....paid for with a price. what price was that? the suffering of Jesus Christ. The word of wisdom tells us not to take in tobacco, coffee, tea, alcohol, or any illegal substance. It teaches us a greater dependency on God than depending on things of the world. Show more Show less
