Hi I'm Rachel

I 'm a Canadian woman. I make a mean pasta sauce, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I come from a small prarie town in Alberta, Canada and I am the oldest of three children. I am your typical oldest child and I tend to think I am right a lot of the time! My parents are both teachers and so it is not surprising that I love and value education. I grew up making vacation plans according to where the really good used bookstores were located. I feel most at home when I am surrounded by lots and lots of books. I love theatre! I think it is such a powerful medium of communication with so much potential to influence people for good. I study theatre in college. I also love music more than I can even describe. I think if I was not studying theatre I would want to study culinary arts because I LOOOVE to cook. I love cooking pasta sauces and baking wheat bread. I have always secretly wanted to move to Paris, like Audrey Hepburn in the movie "Sabrina", and learn to cook while I listen to someone play la vie en rose on the accordian. I love my family. I love being in the spotlight while I'm acting. I love good books and good plays. The most important things to me in life are my relationships with God, my family, and my friends.

Why I am a Mormon

When my mom and dad were both in their young adult years they were introduced to the church and were baptized. Because of their decision I was raised as a member of the L.D.S church. My parent's conversion is a big reason that I practice this faith, but that is just the beginning of many reasons that I believe and live this way. The most important reason that I choose this as a way of life is the constant peace I feel as I live the teachings of Jesus Christ. I know that the Gospel of Jesus Christ, in its fullness, is contained in this church. I have experienced times of serious doubt and sincere searching in relation to my faith. As a result of much study and prayer I can say, surely, I know that Christ lives. I know the Book of Mormon is God's word, as is the Bible. God speaks to us through a prophet today. I know our families can be together forever, and I know how that is possible! I know God loves His children. This message adds light to every aspect of my life and brings me joy. That is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Right now I teach a class every sunday to the women's group in our church. It is so rewarding to get to talk about the gospel with all these women who are trying to be better! I pray every day. I read from the scriptures. I try to do what I think Jesus would do if he was standing with me. I find joy in following God's commandments, because I think that's the way He would want it!

What do Mormons believe happens to us after we die? What do Mormons believe about life after death?

Rachel
We believe that life continues after our physical death. After this life we will have the opportunity to continue progressing and to be with the people we love. What a wonderful doctrine, and one that is especially meaningful to me, having lost my mom to cancer. I know I will be with her again. Show more Show less
