Hi I'm Jared

I love to sing and play the piano. I'm studying music therapy and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love music! I'm majoring in Music Therapy at Utah State University. Music has an amazing power and is a true gift from our Heavenly Father. To be able to use what I love most to help others is a blessing I'm very grateful for. I love singing all day, every day, just ask anyone I know! I also love playing the piano and I'm kinda learning how to play the guitar...I'll get it eventually. I love performing in choirs, musicals and plays in addition to school, friends and family, so I'm usually pretty busy (and I love it). I come from a family of 9. I have an older sister and brother, 3 younger brothers, and an adopted African-American sister. I always like to be around people. I love to talk (in both English and Portuguese), smile and laugh!

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the church, but staying an active member has been my choice. I've had my fair share of doubts, questions and problems. But as I've continued to read and pray, I've come to realize that this is the one true church of Jesus Christ here on the earth. There is so much hope that comes from being a member of the LDS church. I can truly see the love our Heavenly Father has for each of us, and the potential we have to learn and grow as his children here on the earth. I'm grateful to have my family, and one reason I'm a Mormon is because I know that I can be with them for eternity. When we adopted my little sister, we went to the temple and she was sealed to us forever. It was such an amazing experience that I will never forget. I like to visit other churches. It's a chance to learn about other faiths and "explore my options", so to speak. But the way I feel in the LDS church is unlike the others, and I think that's a confirmation that I'm in the right place.

How I live my faith

I attend church every week and I continually read from the scriptures as well as pray every day. It isn't something I've always been good at, I'll admit, but it's made a large impact in my life. I feel closer to my Heavenly Father because I know I'm doing the things he wants me to. In college I attend Institute, a seminary class for college-aged students. It helps me think about my Savior and the gospel in my life during the week instead of just on Sundays. I have also participated in my congregations with different callings. I've been the choir director and I'm currently the organist. It's a great way to praise the Lord through what I love most, music! I served as a full-time missionary for the church. This was an amazing experience of my life and I was very blessed to have had the opportunity.
