Hi I'm Heidi

I grew up in Nevada on a small ranch with a wonderful family. I try to keep my life simple. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a Mother of three children, ages 19, 18 and 15. I try to keep busy with things I enjoy like running, a small amount of crafting, swimming, playing with my children, gardening, reading and someday training for an Ironman! I also work as an RN in a Pediatricians office a couple days a week. I would like to think I am your typical Mom trying to teach and raise a family in a busy world!! I grew up in Southern Nevada on a small ranch with three brothers. My life was filled with lots of hard work and non-stop teasing. I had a bit different upbringing due to the fact that my Father is from Mexico. I had many different cultural experiences because of this fact.

Why I am a Mormon

My life has meaning, purpose and direction because of my religion. I have peace and happiness that cannot be found with the things the world has to offer. As I raise my children, I am able to teach them principles and values that will bring them true happiness throughout their lives. I know this to be true because of my own life. I am able to rely on a Father in Heaven. I know there is more to this life than just the here and now. I can communicate and receive personal guidance through my Father in Heaven as I read my scriptures, say daily prayers and keep the commandments of God. I have a knowledge that I can be with my family for eternity, not just until death. I have great joy as I work daily on trying to have a home filled with peace and love. I cannot imagine my life without the knowledge I have. I would feel lost and uncertain of myself. I would not know the purpose of this life. There isn't anything more wonderful than knowing there is a Father in Heaven, He loves me and wants me to return to live with Him. I can do that through my religion.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving my family. I work daily on trying to be more patient, thoughtful, caring, compassionate and understanding of my children and spouse. This is a daily effort. I live my faith by serving in my ward family. I have the opportunity to volunteer as a teacher of children. I am able to help teach the children of my church congregation the principles we believe and live by. This is a wonderful opportunity to help strengthen others outside of my family. I live my faith by serving in the community. I volunteer at the local food bank and various other charitable organizations throughout the community. My religion helps me to see there is more to life than just me and what I want. I lost my younger brother while he served a Mormon mission in Russia at the age of 20. This was a time in my life where I needed to know if my religious beliefs really were founded on truth. I was brought to my knees many times in heartfelt prayer to understand what had happened and would I see my baby brother again. My life was changed. I became more aware than ever that there is a Father in Heaven who loves me. He sent His son, Jesus Christ so that I can live again and find peace in this life! I found comfort in Christ through this difficult trial.
