Hi I'm Yuri

I grew up all over the world, I love to play video games, I am a polyglot, and most importantly - I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I am currently serving a Full-Time Mission in Taiwan! I am the oldest of 3 kids. My brother is currently preparing to go and serve his own mission in the upcoming year! I have a little sister and she's so excited to see me back home so soon :) My family is from all over the world. My Dad's roots are from Scotland and my Mom is all from Russia. I grew up speaking English and Russian at home and now I speak Chinese, how cool is that!

Why I am a Mormon

The Church has been a major facet in my family ever since my Grandma met the Missionaries in Scotland. Ever since, we've been living the gospel and it's allowed for so many people to be blessed! I personally grew up in the church, but it wasn't until HighSchool that I actually really considered what my faith had to do with my life. I would go and participate in church, but when I enrolled in the early morning seminary program for the HighSchool students I realized that I didn't feel I knew all that much about the church. I slowly started to read the Book of Mormon and listen to what was going on at church. I didn't doubt that what I had grown up believing was true, I just wanted to better understand. In that time I had many opportunities to go to other churches with friends, but in the end nothing felt the same. I remember once while I was praying to know about the church and the Book of Mormon I asked "Is this really the truth?" and the answer I got was simple "Why are you even asking, you already know the answer!" I got my answer and I know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints really is the only true and living church on all the face of the earth! Ever since it's shaped me to become who I am and who I am striving to be. Through the gospel of Christ I know who I am and what I can obtain through faith and perserverance. The gospel is for everyone, and that's why I wanted to share my testimony with others!

How I live my faith

I love to serve as a missionary. My 2 years of service are now coming quickly to an end, but in this time I've had opportunities to answer questions that people have had their entire lives!

How are the activities of the Mormon missionaries funded?

Yuri
Back before the Mission I started to work in the Mall so that I could start to save up some money for my own mission! I worked there for about 15 months before I was able to go and start serving the Lord. Of course I had some help from my family and they've supported me in these 2 years, and it's allowed me to go out and help others know the simple truths that I know! Show more Show less

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

Yuri
There is no "one message" that people need to hear to understand or become converted. As missionaries come and teach they personally pray, study and prepare according to needs and personal interest! More important than what is taught is the application and understanding of what our Heavenly Father would have us do to be happy in this life so that we can eventually return to live with Him! The missionaries are happy to answer question about the church and teach things that you may not have even considered. As people listen with an open mind, and an open heart, they'll be able to feel the importance of our own personal relationship with a loving Heavenly Father. Show more Show less
