Hi I'm Derek

Born and raised in New England. I love hockey, ping-pong, eating lobster and hanging with my family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Growing up ice hockey was my life. One of my life goals early on was to play college hockey. I achieved that goal and loved every minute of it. After graduating, I decided to serve my Lord and Savior by becoming a full-time missionary. He had blessed my life more than I could have imagined so 2 years to share His gospel was not much at all. I served in Mexico and was able to meet, teach and learn from so many wonderful, loving people. I am now married to my beautiful wife and I have seen my Heavenly Father's hand guide me through so many facets of my life. I know that as I follow His will, He will always watch over me.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I believe that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is Christ's Church here on earth. I believe that by following it's precepts I will become closer to my Lord. I'm a Mormon because I've lived the Mormon life and have been blessed by it. I invite anyone else to try it too.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to treat others how they deserve to be treated, as children of our Eternal Father in Heaven.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

We do not worship Joseph Smith. I have heard the misconception that people think we do, but that is just not true. As Mormons our main goal is to invite everyone, including ourselves, to come unto Christ. Joseph Smith was a great prophet who did all he could to pursue that goal, but he is not the one who can take away our sins. Jesus Christ is our Savior, and it is He whom we worship.  Show more Show less

Are Mormons Christians?

We believe that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world. He, and only He, could have lived the perfect life that He lived. We believe He is at the head of our Church and that he speaks through modern day prophets and apostles. We follow Christ and look to Him in all that we do. His sacrifice makes it possible for us to return to our loving Heavenly Father's presence. Yes, Mormons are Christians. Show more Show less
