Hi I'm Parker

I'm a Mormon and it's amazing!

About Me

I'm 23 years old and currently studying exercise physiology at Brigham Young University - Idaho. I have plans to continue onwards to medical school and someday become a doctor. What kind of doctor? I'm not quite sure yet, but I'll get there! I love to read, play soccer and play my guitar. I'm working two jobs right now while I go to school I'm a dairy/frozen clerk for a local grocery store and I was just hired on at Kiwi Loco, a self-serve frozen yogurt parlor. I'm blonde, I like brussels sprouts and I sing in the shower on occasion. I come from a divorced home, unfortunately, but I love my parents and they love me and my multiple siblings and step-siblings. I love where I'm at and what I'm doing. Life is a blessing that we take for granted.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon. Plain and simple. I always have been and always will be. There was a time in my life when I didn't fully believe in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and even though I thought I was happy, there was something missing in my life. I was always fighting with my parents and my siblings and I had no motivation to really excel in anything that I was doing. It wasn't until I was 18 that I realized that my mother had found this missing piece in The Book of Mormon. I asked her what I needed to do to find this peace that she had developed over the last year and she simply stated, "read The Book of Mormon and pray about it." So I did. I didn't get some huge revelation or vision as an answer I just felt it was good. A year later I left home for 2 years to serve as a missionary in Milan, Italy. I was blessed to get to know a people who are full of faith in Jesus Christ and who were thirsty for more knowledge about their Savior. It was on my mission that I really gained a testimony of The Book of Mormon and a realization that Jesus Christ plays and active role in my life, because I am a son of God, and Jesus is my brother and He loves me enough to have sacrificed himself for my sins. I know this to be true with all of my being. Jesus Christ is real. His church is on the Earth today and is lead by a prophet of God, Thomas S. Monson. If anyone who reads this wishes to know about the truthfulness of the things of which I've testified, I invite you to read The Book of Mormon and pray about the messages it contains. The calming feelings that accompany our Heavenly Father's spirit will come over you and the Holy Ghost confirms the truth to you. I know this, and you can know it too.

How I live my faith

Living the gospel of Jesus Christ is a day-to-day thing. I try my best to serve my fellow man, plain and simple. If I can make a new friend or make someone who's having a bum day smile, then I know I'm doing my job. My current calling in the church is as first counselor in the elder's quorum presidency. The elder's quorum is a group of men who hold the priesthood and search diligently for opportunities to bless the people of the community. My responsibilities are to assist in carrying out the will of the Bishop and the Lord for the college age men and women in our ward. We oversee activities and lessons and probably most importantly make sure that every member of the ward, man and woman, have at least one monthly visit from home-teachers, or a pair of elders men who hold the priesthood who visit to teach the gospel and assist the family. This way we can know how everyone in the ward is doing and if anyone needs help we are able to assist them in any way possible. I have been in this calling for over a year now and find it to be very rewarding. I am able to get to know everyone in the ward and be able to help in them in many ways. I love this church and the opportunities it gives me!
