Hi I'm Robert

I'm a Mormon. I enjoy riding my bicycle. I have ridden in numerous long distance rides including the Race Across America.

About Me

I am a married father of 4 and grandfather of 12. I enjoy outdoor sports including bicycling, shooting, reloading, and snow skiing. I enjoy camping with family and friends and am learning more about dutch oven cooking.

Why I am a Mormon

I have spent most of my life as a Mormon. I spent much of my youth trying to find the way to happiness and could not seem to find anything that truly satisfied me. I began reading the Book of Mormon and found a strong prompting that it was the word of God. I prayed and received the answer that it was true. I knew that if it was true then Joseph Smith must have been a prophet of God and therefor the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints must be the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. I have found that by living the teachings of the Church I have become a better father, husband, and person. I have a overall sense of security and peace in my life as I live these teachings. I know that the family is an eternal unit and we will be with our loved ones after this life.

How I live my faith

I have spent much of my time teaching and working with youth between the ages of 12 to 18. I have had the opportunity to plan and carry out week long adventures with the youth from hiking the Narrows in Zion National Park, climbing Half Dome in Yosemite, to re-living a pioneer trek pushing handcarts. Each one of these activities had opportunities for spiritual growth woven into them. I think that the youth of today are among the best that there ever was. They amaze me with their ability to find the good in this world. I have also been in leadership positions working with adults. I have had many wonderful experiences seeing the blessings that the Lord Jesus Christ bestows upon those that are striving to do what is right. I have also had the opportunity to take my sons "Home Teaching" over the years. Home Teaching is when members of the church visit one another on a monthly basis to bring a spiritual message to the family and see if they may have any other needs that the Home Teacher can fill. My teenage sons learned how to teach a lesson to those families and also learned how to provide service to others.
