Hi I'm Matt

I'm from Kansas. I love math. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Friends are very important to me. Happiness for me is found most around my friends and family. I like to be active. I love to play tennis, frisbee, swim, and anything else outside. Learning is also a major part of my life. Currently, I am studying math in college. College is a blast, and learning new things, regardless the particular subject is one of the best parts.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up with my parents as members of the LDS church, and as a kid, that was just part of me, sort of like my eyes being blue, that is just the way things were, and I was fine with that. I really just did not think too much about faith. I believed in God, and I knew the church I belonged to taught good things. I never really questioned. However, as I got older, the friends I had in high school had similar moral standards as me, but were not members of the same church. Time went by, and I remember talking to the leader of our church ward and he asked me if I really believed that Joseph Smith was a prophet, and that the Book of Mormon is true. I thought about it and realized that I was not completely sure. He told me to read every day and ask God to know for myself. I had not ever really done that before, so I started. I read fervently, and prayed fervently, and I always felt good when I did, and I was not completely sure why. Then, one day I woke up and I just had an overwhelming desire to know if everything that I had been taught was actually true. So I prayed and I prayed, and then my answer came, and I knew that it was all true. I know now that those good feelings I had was God reassuring me that it actually was true. Now I know that the Book of Mormon is true, and everything that follows from it. It has completely changed my life actually knowing that God is there, and that His church has been restored on the earth again. That peace that comes is one of the greatest blessings I have ever received in my life.

How I live my faith

Mostly, I like to do service. I am involved with a group at my college that tutors students as service. Being able to help others is one great blessing in my life. I also visit certain members of my church at least monthly to help them with anything that they need, but mostly just to be there for them to help in whatever way I can. I know that is something that Christ would want me to do, and for me, service is a very important way of following Him. It helps me feel closer to my Savior, and it allows me to share a little of His love with those around me.
