Hi I'm Kel

I am a marketing professional, Mom, and cancer fighter. I'm a mormon.

About Me

I am a mom and stage IV cancer fighter. I love graphic arts, camping and going to the beach. Some of my favorite memories are from family vacations, no matter how close or far from home we go.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a Mormon family, as was my mom. My dad joined the Mormon faith in his 20's. Although I always had the Mormon church in my life, when challenges in life made me really analyze my beliefs, it became clear that choices I made to follow God's teachings and the teaching of my church brought good into my life. When bad things happened, my teachings of the church gave me strength. This soul-searching makes me believe that doing all the "right things" doesn't mean that life goes right. In fact, when things aren't going right we can take the chance to become more committed to Jesus Christ and His teachings. I know Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ live. They love me, and each person. Following Their teachings brings peace, hope, love and strength to manage tough times and find joy in good times.

How I live my faith

You know the story of the wise man and the foolish man? The first man built his house on the sand and watched it wash away when the storms came. The second man built his house, or life, on a the rock, Jesus Christ, and his house stood still through the storms and trials of life. I am on a life-long quest to sure-up my foundation through coming to really know Jesus Christ as my Savior and friend. I try to put the principles of His teachings first in decisions I make. Honesty, integrity, charity and dependability are some key values He teaches that really cover most of the big and little things in life. While sometimes it is easy to show these virtues, other times it takes a conscious decision or even a re-do. But, the struggle to get it right is worth the peace I feel as the day ends and I know I did my best.

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

Kel
As I have worked to increase my faith I have learned that I must build my relationship with Him, like I would with another person. I must take time to get to know Him, His teachings and in turn understand that He knows me. And, like with another person, if I don't put effort into the relationship it will change. Increasing faith in Jesus Christ is a lot like training to develop muscle. It requires consistent effort, work, and a using several of the best practices to become successful. Some of the best practices you would use in developing muscles would include using weight lifting and aerobic activity along with good nutrition. In developing faith I would suggest some of the best practices include building a personal relationship, attending church services and feasting on the scriptures. Show more Show less

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

Kel
Mormon women are much like women everywhere. Some like crafting and cooking, some don't. Some stay home to raise children, some are working mothers and some don't have children. And, like women everywhere, Mormon women want to be married to a man who will love and respect them. Women have an equal value to God and are vital to His plan, but a woman's role in God's plan is different. It is widely accepted that men and women think, work, and solve problems differently, right? I see that these different approaches and styles work to complement each other. Show more Show less
