Hi I'm Whitney

I am a photographer. A wife. A tad perfectionist. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

At 26, I still feel like life just began and possibilities are endless. I believe in learning from my past and planning for a better future. To me, life is all about change and becoming who we were born to be. ...Change our perspective. Change our environment. Improve ourselves. Change our world. I find joy in creation - art, cooking, gardening, music, cleaning, family, relationships. People matter. We are all in the same boat. I believe in being nice. Marriage is the best thing that has happened to me. My dream of being my own boss and becoming a professional photographer is becoming a reality through determination, support, mistakes, and lots of hard work. I believe anything is possible. Dream big! I have yet to finish college, but striving to continue my education in other ways is important to me. My husband and I share a love for gelato, thai coconut soup, road trips, and kitties.

Why I am a Mormon

What I know, I know for myself...not because anyone told me or convinced me, but because I searched, pondered, and prayed to know. It's something you FEEL that FILLS you. It's indescribable, yet incredible! Life is full of questions. The world we live in is full of different ideas, beliefs, and philosophies. No wonder so many people opt to avoid organized religion. With so many options, it's too easy to be confused or mislead. I know that the ONLY place we can find the real answers and truth is from its creator, God. He is our creator, our Heavenly Father. That's why he loves us more than we can comprehend. He hears us, He cares about us, and He WANTS us to be happy and know the truth. Through diligent and sincere prayer, I have come to know that God lives. That He loves ME. That He KNOWS me personally. That He wants me to be happy and to return and live with Him some day. I know He has provided a way for that to happen through His son, Jesus Christ. He is our Savior. I have come to know that His teachings and gospel are found in the Bible and The Book of Mormon. I know that His true church is on the earth today and is lead by a living prophet. I have no doubts. There is nothing in this world that has brought MORE answers, more peace, more comfort, more joy, more happiness, more growth, more improvement, and MORE purpose in my life than this knowledge.

How I live my faith

My faith is one of high standards. It's one thing to "talk the talk" and it's another to "walk the walk". My faith has taught me that we are all here on earth to ultimately become like Christ, to live and pattern our lives after his. When I was 21, I decided to serve an 18 month mission for the Church. I was sent to serve in Puerto Rico. It was there that I learned really WHAT it means to "walk the walk". Clearly, I'm no perfect person...far from actually! But I strive to live my life as the Savior would. I try to live putting others first. To serve. To give. To love. To see others as God sees them. To not judge. To forgive. To apologize. To be patient. To help. To uplift. To encourage. To pray always. To respect my body. To stand up for what's right. In essence, be "a light unto the world". Now, how ideal it would be to do ALL of those things ALL of the time. I'm not...but I'm trying. I'm blessed to know God is well aware that we are imperfect. He expects me to make mistakes...and often. When I do, I can repent, be forgiven, leave it behind me & start fresh thanks to Christ's atonement. It's how we learn and grow.
