Hi I'm Alison

I like to do yoga. I enjoy hiking and listening to classical music. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother and wife. I have 4 sons and 2 daughters. I am a stay-at-home mom. I enjoy helping at my kids' schools, playing the piano, singing and cooking. I served as a missionary in Thailand for 18 months. I love Thai food.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised by great partents who took me to church. I had caring, knowledgable teachers and leaders. I made close friends at church. I have always felt something different at church even when I was growing up. I learned about Jesus Christ and felt a great love for Him. I wanted to please Him and follow His teachings. As I tried to pattern my life after Christ's teachings and the counsel of church leaders I felt joy in my life. As a result I wanted to live closer to God. Over the years I built on the foundation of faith laid by my parents and church leaders. I have realized that the blessings promised by God to those who love him are true. I learned for myself that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true.

How I live my faith

I am a member of a woman's organization made up of strong, intelligent women of faith. As a member I am responsible to watch over 4 other women. I try to visit them at home and be aware of what's going on in their lives. That way I can know how to reach out to them. These women are my friends and I have learned from their strengths and example.

Why are Mormons asked to donate 10% of their income to their Church?

This is a growing church. There is a new church meetinghouse built every working day. Funds from members' donations help the church provide for all members.  Show more Show less

How can faith in Jesus Christ influence us in our marriages and family relationships? in our friendships?

My faith in Christ helps me be more comfortable with facing challenges. I have a husband who is as committed as I am to making a great marriage. My faith helps me learn how to say "I'm sorry." I have learned how to see my husband as God sees him. I have experienced joy in my marriage that I only dreamed was possible. My faith also helps me face challenges in raising children. I know that my children are and were children of God before they were born by me. My faith helps me endure hard things because I know God has a plan. I also have faith that even though I make mistakes and have weaknesses, with faith in Christ, I can change. God will help make something better out of my life than I could on my own. I know my family is the greatest thing that has ever happened to me. And I know when I follow Christ my family relationships can continue on past this earth life.  Show more Show less
