Hi I'm Alison

About Me

I am a mother and wife. I have 4 sons and 2 daughters. I am a stay-at-home mom. I enjoy helping at my kids' schools, playing the piano, singing and cooking. I served as a missionary in Thailand for 18 months. I love Thai food.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised by great partents who took me to church. I had caring, knowledgable teachers and leaders. I made close friends at church. I have always felt something different at church even when I was growing up. I learned about Jesus Christ and felt a great love for Him. I wanted to please Him and follow His teachings. As I tried to pattern my life after Christ's teachings and the counsel of church leaders I felt joy in my life. As a result I wanted to live closer to God. Over the years I built on the foundation of faith laid by my parents and church leaders. I have realized that the blessings promised by God to those who love him are true. I learned for myself that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true.

Personal Stories

How has The Book of Mormon helped you understand the purpose of life?

The Book of Mormon has helped me understand that there must be opposition in everything. The Book of Mormon has taught me that I have a choise. I can choose good and receive peace in my heart. The Book of Mormon has also helped me understand that this life on earth is one step in God's plan for me. If I do my best to obey God's commandments and live according to the teachings of Jesus Christ I can obtain greater joy and happiness in my life. This helps me to have hope. I also learn that God's promises are true. When I have a bad day, I have hope and trust in God's love for me. God's plan is a plan of happiness and I will obtain happiness when I accept His plan and follow Him.

How can we develop greater harmony in our homes?

I have a niece who was born seemingly healthy, but then she couldn't breathe on her own. She was in the neonatal intensive care unit for many days. My brother and his wife went home without the baby. We didn't know if my niece would make it. It was a sad time for our family. We decided to fast which is to not eat or drink for 2 meals. We prayed for God's blessings on this baby. My children joined us in fasting, even my little children fasted 1 meal. After many days my neice started to recover. She was able to breathe on her own. Soon she could go home. My daughter said, "That was like Moses when the water opened up." We had experienced a miracle. We had harmony in our family when we united to seek God's help.

How I live my faith

I am a member of a woman's organization made up of strong, intelligent women of faith. As a member I am responsible to watch over 4 other women. I try to visit them at home and be aware of what's going on in their lives. That way I can know how to reach out to them. These women are my friends and I have learned from their strengths and example.
