Hi I'm Sara

I'm from Alberta, Canada, a mother of 5, a published musician and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a stay-at-home mother of five children ranging in age from 5 to 16. They keep me very busy! My kind, supportive husband and I have been married for 20 years. He is my best friend. We love our kids and we love spending time together and with our children. We enjoy boating, water/snow skiing, working in our yard and watching movies together. Being a mormon is our way of life - and it is a very good life. I am also a published songwriter. Most of what I write is sacred music and is an expression of my testimony of this gospel. I share my music in the form of programs, called firesides, where I travel around to different places and speak and have vocalists my songs or bring other singers along to perform. It has been such a blessing in my life, even though it's scary to let people hear my heart! Even my children sing my songs and it blesses our whole family. Using my talents helps me stay balanced and helps me feel fufilled. I love my job as a musician and I feel it makes me a better mother, although being a mom is my #1 priority. Music just fills the cracks!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a mormon because of my love for my Savior, Jesus Christ. This is His church on the earth today - The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-day Saints. I take great comfort and feel safety in knowing that this is His work, and I love being a part of it! I love to serve Him because of His sacrifice for me. I also love the programs of the church and what they do for me and my family. We are all God's children here on earth and our loving Heavenly Father has not left us alone. He has given us a living prophet on the earth today, a wonderful church to help us along and he has a plan for each one of us. I feel so grateful for that and to me, it speaks volumes of the love our Heavenly Father has for His children. I also love the peace that being a member of this church brings into my life and the perspective I have. Nothing seems impossible and I feel His strength and comfort in my trials. Because I am lucky enough to be born a mormon, I want to share. I continue living this gospel because it bring me happiness beyond anything the world offers. It is true, lasting happiness and most of all, this gospel will bring me - and my family - back to live again with my Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by attending church each week, reading my scriptures and praying daily, serving those around me and fufilling my calling within our ward. I also try to use what I learn in nurturing my children. I have learned it's so much easier to help my children develop socially, emotionally and spiritually with the help of the gospel. I can't imagine raising my family without knowing these important doctrines. They help to make sense of some of the hard things we experience in this life. Every member has a calling to fulfill. It makes me feel needed and appreciated. I currently serve in the Young Women organization. I also visit 3 sisters each month, through the Visiting Teaching program, sharing messages and friendly conversation. Visiting Teaching is part of the Relief Society program for women. Visiting Teaching helps women be connected with each other and to boost each others spirits with our faith and our kindness towards them. When we serve in our church we draw closer to our Savior and to each other. For me, though, I think the most important part of living my faith is keeping in mind that I do everything because of my faith in Jesus Christ. I have covenanted through baptism to follow Him and do as He would do. As I serve, learn, or share my talents, I do it because I love my Savior and want to please Him.

How can I know Mormonism is true?

Sara
We are promised in the Book of Mormon in Moroni Chapter 10 verses 4 & 5 that when we want to know if something is true, we should pray, asking God if these things are true. If you pray with sincere faith and real intent, the Lord will let you know. You will feel something - most likely peace and a warm feeling. That is the Holy Ghost confirming the truthfulness of the gospel. I have felt it many times in my life. As new converts to the church or as members all our lives, we still have to go through the same process of conversion. "Ask and ye shall receive, knock and it shall be answered unto you" the Savior said. And He will answer when we seek with faith. Show more Show less

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

Sara
YES! When a husband and wife are sealed in the temple, the ordinance performed there will guarantee a marriage to last beyond the grave, but only if the couple honors the covenants and promises they make there. Children that come to their family will be sealed to their parents as well. We believe that families can be together forever because of the Atonement of Jesus Christ and the saving ordinances found only in God's holy temples. When we accept the Atonement of Jesus Christ and follow His example, we qualify ourselves for blessings that last forever. Show more Show less
