Do you want to chat with a missionary?

We are happy to answer any questions you may have.

Hi I'm Tia Zwick.

I'm a tennis player, sister missionary, scrapbooker, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 22 years old and am currently serving a mission in the New York Utica Mission. I love this time in my life to focus on the Savior and to help others come to know Him and feel His love for them individually. I am a little less than halfway through college and plan to finish and graduate after returning home from my mission. Some things I absolutely could not live without are strawberries, sunshine, laughter, music, dresses, and broadway musicals.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I love the way I feel when I live the principles of the Mormon teachings, the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It has brought me so much happiness to follow the doctrine taught in the Book of Mormon and from the modern day prophet and apostles. I am Mormon because I came to know through prayer and receiving a feeling of peace and assurance from the Holy Ghost that Joseph Smith saw Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ in the Sacred Grove. I believe that God restored His power to the earth again through Joseph Smith. It brings me comfort to know that priesthood power is here again just as it was in the New Testament when Christ healed the lepers and raised Jairus's daughter from the dead. It's here again! The heavens are again open and God has bestowed that same power he gave his twelve apostles to righteous men today. Through this, God sanctions the saving ordinances of baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and others. What a blessing it is to know that when we are baptized by someone holding this priesthood power, we receive God's stamp of approval in Heaven. I am Mormon because I love my family and I am so grateful I know that through the power of the restored priesthood in this church, I am promised to live with my family forever. I am Mormon because I've prayed to know if the Book of Mormon is true and in answer to that prayer and every time I read it the Holy Ghost testifies to my mind and heart that what I'm reading is God's word. I love the clarity of the teachings in the Book of Mormon. I know the Book of Mormon is true scripture because by reading it I have come to know my Savior and how I should follow him. The Book of Mormon stories can relate to our lives and inspire me to be a better disciple of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by the choices I make every day. I choose to keep my covenants I made at baptism and in the temple, to keep the commandments and be a representative of Christ by seeing and treating others how He would. But I am imperfect. I believe each day is a new opportunity to improve and become better and that's possible because of the Atonement of Jesus Christ. I know that as I follow His example and accept Heavenly Father's will before my own, and follow the whisperings of the Spirit, I can become better each day.

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

Tia Zwick.
I feel like everything proves that God exists. I love how Alma answers Korihor in the Book of Mormon when he asks about God. He says, "All things denote there is a God yea, even the earth, and all things that are upon the face of it, yea and its motion, yea, and also all the planets which move in their regular form do witness that there is a Supreme Creator." Nature, human life, friendships and everything we have and can become is because we were created by deity, a loving Father in Heaven. Knowing I am His daughter and that He loves me gives me a reason to wake up every morning and live my life in a pleasing way unto Him. I know he wants us to succeed and eventually return to live in His presence. He has given us minds and opportunities on an earth that He created through His Son to learn and grow and eventually become like them.  Show more Show less
