Hi I'm Kate

I'm a college football fanatic, an aspiring beatboxer, an optimist, AND I'm a Mormon!

About Me

HI! I'm a young professional working in the health field. Outside of work I enjoy participating in all different activities life has to offer. From participating in local community service to working it out in a fitness class or spending a day outdoors to rooting at a sports game, I love tapping into my various surroundings and talents I've been blessed with. Other things I enjoy are: spending time with friends/family, cooking/baking, traveling, going to concerts, shopping, learning new things, and just being ME! Spiritually speaking, I joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints about 4 years ago. Having a better relationship with my (and your) Savior, Jesus Christ, has allowed me to have direction while living life to the fullest.

Why I am a Mormon

Growing up Roman Catholic provided a foundation for my faith in the Savior. I had many different questions, but no answers that made sense to me. Not having answers gave me a lack of motivation to attend church, I knew there had to be more. In high school and college I took World Religion classes and was intrigued by the different beliefs. Learning about different religions was interesting, but I desired to know something for myself. When the LDS missionaries first came to my house I was apprehensive and told myself I'd only take it as an educational lesson. At the end of sharing Joseph Smith's experience, the missionaries bore testimony on what they knew to be true. It was with such power and surety. Their conviction 'pierced' my heart. Inside I needed to be able to have something I truly believed and knew, just like the missionaries. That night I took the invitation to pray and read from the Book of Mormon. Never having prayed to God using my own words I was nervous but I had the desire to confirm the feelings I felt earlier. In the Book of Mormon I was reading a chapter about faith. While reading one of the verses, I felt the same 'pierce' to my heart that I felt earlier. I knelt down to pray. Praying for the first time was surreal and I knew I had to keep learning more from the missionaries. Investigating the church and working towards a baptism day was not easy. Looking back now, I know what I went through was necessary because I've never witnessed, or felt, the hand of God in my life as strong as I did during that period of time. The past couple years I've learned so much about the Savior, Jesus Christ. My relationship with him is beyond comprehension. I've been blessed with so many things, spiritually and temporally. My life has done a complete 180 and now has substance, direction, purpose, worth, and hopes. I've ended the search I was once on, and can stand for a surety of what I believe in, because I know it’s true. That's why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I believe there are two ways for someone to live their faith: spiritually and physically. Some of the ways I spiritually live my faith is through daily prayer and meditation, reading the scriptures, and following the commandments. Physically I live my faith by attending church, preparing/teaching Adult Sunday School classes, attending weekly scripture study with a Young Adult group, and participating in various community service opportunities.
