Hi I'm Dave

I served a 2 year mission in the Nebraska Omaha Mission, my ambitions are the medical field and to serve others. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I hit a few rough spots in my life including having many health problems. I have learned a whole lot about my love towards my family. Puting others first and foremost is most important. Gaining knowledge through daily study of the scriptures is a big part of my everyday life. I enjoy bike riding, roller blading as well as skateboarding and jump-roping. I have a passion for all music that uplifts and inspires. I lived in Germany, California, Arizona, Texas, Washington State, Tennessee, Nevada, Texas (again), Idaho, Iowa, and Nebraska. I miss all the friends I've made in each of those states. I feel life is fulfilled and complete when I go out and serve people any way I can. That's why I want to go to college and get my CNA then become an RN. I have gratitude towards my trials and tribulations because they helped to better my standing with God. I know that God is watching out for me every day and that is something that greatly influences the choices I make.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I chose to be. When I was 8, I was preparing to be baptized. I've always known there was something special about church and I knew it was the thing for me. My parents and church teachers have helped me to understand the fundamentals of the Gospel and I know it is right. I can't recall a time in my life when I didn't know the Church was true.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by applying the doctrines I learned at church and in my home into my everyday life. A scripture I like to review at times, "Man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart." I love applying that scripture into my life. I am a very empathetic person; I talk to a lot of people and help out any way I can. Finding the good in others is what each of us needs to do. That really helps me to love everyone I meet. I try to live my faith to the fullest. I obey the commandments of God as best I can, I heed the council of a modern-day prophet and I follow the promptings of the Spirit. "Church is my life!"-something I realize for myself at times.-but hey, it's true!

What is the Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon is a sacred record of God's dealings with the ancient inhabitants of the Americas. It has been foretold for centeries that Jesus Christ would appear to them. He would be born of Mary. He would set up His church and perform many mighty miracles. His main mission was "to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man." The climax of the Book of Mormon is when Jesus Christ himself appeared to the people in America, after His ascension into heaven. Jesus stated that "Other sheep I have which are not of this fold." He called twelve disciples to serve and act in His name, administered the sacrament, and healed the sick and afflicted. Christ taught the gospel and set up His church just as He did during His ministry in Jerusalem. The purpose of the Book of Mormon is to testify that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God. The Book of Mormon is Another Testament of jesus Christ. It is the keystone of our religion. Show more Show less

What blessings can we receive through the gift of the Holy Ghost?

The gift of the Hoy Ghost is a very special gift from our loving Heavenly Father. It was because of the Holy Ghost that I desired to be baptized. The Spirit tells us of dangers headed our way and helps us to choose the right. As we remain obedient to the commandments of the Lord, we are promised "to always have His Spirit to be with us". This means constent guidance from our Heavenly Father. The Holy Ghost acts as a spiritual compass. When we choose the right, we are pointed in the right direction. When we choose wrong, however, the Spirit will not abide with us. The way we receive His Spirit again is by repenting and going about doing good. Joy, peace, comfort and direction are just some of the blessings we receive when the Holy Ghost is with us. Show more Show less

What is the priesthood?

The priesthood is a great calling and blessing and is the authority to act in God's name. During Christ's reign on the earth, He conferred the priesthood upon the twelve apostles. They were to govern all the organizations in the Church with this authority. Worthy male members of the Church who have the priesthood are to serve with love, gentleness and kindness. Today, we can enjoy the heavenly blessings God has promised all those who stay faithful and true. This is possible because Jesus Christ has extended that power to a living prophet. Why do Mormons baptize their new members?

As a repentant person fathfully desires to be baptized, he or she may be baptized into the Church. Jesus taught that in order to be called children of Christ, we must covenant or promise Him that we will follow His commandments to the best of our abilities. All repentant persons should follow Christ by being baptized for the remission or forgiveness of their sins. By so doing, the sacrifice our Savior has gone through can be effective in our lives and we may walk the path of righteousness. Ultimately, as we stay true to our promises, Heavenly Father will bless us to return to live with Him someday. Show more Show less

What is the Relief Society?

"Charity never faileth" is the Relief Society's motto. It is a women's organization in the Church first organized in 1842. The prophet Joseph Smith received revelation to set this up. The women of the Church serve and spiritually strengthen their families and those in need. I can truely say that the Relief Society is a blessed organization designed by our Father in Heaven. I am grateful for my mother's diligence, sacrifice and her participation in Relief Society. Show more Show less

In whom should we have faith?

"We believe that the first principles and ordaninces of the Gospel are first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ..." We believe in Christ because He has brought us hope for a better world and blessed us with His Gospel. Faith is important because, through Christ, we can live with God again and receive promised blessings. There is a difference between just having "faith" and exercising "true faith." True faith requires doing good to all men, keeping the commandments of the Lord and actively fulfilling our responsibility to always remember Him. We remember our Savior by reading the scriptures, praying and, of course, going to church. I know it is Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ in whom we need to have faith. Show more Show less

What are Mormon Temples used for?

Temples are dotting the world and as I see how many there are in the world, my testimony strengthends. Temples are what bind families together. We believe that families can be together forever and even deceased ancestors can be united with us. In Temples, we make sacred promises with our Heavenly Father, go thru ceremonies to unite our families, and perform baptisms for those ancestors who have passed on, unable to hear and accept the Gospel of Jesus Christ. So Temple and family history work is important for blessing and binding indiviuals and families together for eternity. Show more Show less

How can faith in Jesus Christ influence us in our marriages and family relationships? in our friendships?

Faith in Christ has greatly been a strength in my family's life because we are blessed with peace, solice, and especailly love at home. When a major decision needs to be made, we will take it up with the Lord. I have always been taught to be a peacemaker by my mother. I have been taught responsibility and diligence by my father. Both of which are attributes from the example of Jesus Christ. Faith in Christ is the goal for each of my family members and is the satisfying fruit that can be partaken of each and every day. It fuels the happiness in my family. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe about family?

What Mormons beleive about families is simple. Our families are ordained, or accepted by God. Jesus Christ should be the center of our families. The relationships I have with each family member are the most important things that I cherish. We were meant to be with each other forever. This is the truth about God's family that we are all part of it. Show more Show less

What is the First Vision?

The First Vision is the first heavenly manifestation that Joseph Smith received in his life. He proclaims that he "saw a pillar of light, exactly over my head, above the brightness of the son, which descended gradually until it fell upon me. When the light rested upon me, I saw two percenages, whose brightness and glory defy all description, standing above me in the air. One of them spake unto me, calling me by name and said, pointing to the other, This is My Beloved Son, Hear Him." Joseph saw God and His Son, Jesus Christ. This is reffered to the "First Vision" because other heavenly visits followed. This was the start of restored truth coming back to the earth from God. Show more Show less

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Mormons help all people. Missionaries go out every single day and help those not of our faith spiritually grow and understand the teachings of modern prophets and of Jesus Christ. The Humanitarian efforts reach out to as many people as they can across the world. In local areas, church members help out their neighbors and friends. Help and relief for others is something we do.
